State Senate Leadership Endorses Gaston For Another Term

Freshman State Senator Herron Gaston has been endorsed by upper chamber leaders Martin Looney and Bob Duff. Gaston faces an August 13 Democratic primary challenge from City Councilman Ernie Newton.

Today, Senator Herron Keyon Gaston, D-Bridgeport, secured endorsements this week from the state Senate’s top leaders, Senate President Pro Tempore Martin Looney and Majority Leader Bob Duff, who praised Gaston as a tireless advocate for the people of Bridgeport.

“It is a privilege to receive the endorsements of Senate President Pro Tempore Looney and Senate Majority Leader Duff. Their support underscores the efficacy and impact of my efforts to advance public safety, economic growth, and educational opportunities in our community,” Senator Gaston said. “I am eager to continue our partnership in serving Bridgeport and Stratford and to build on the progress we’ve made.”

Senator Looney, D-New Haven, expressed his strong support for Senator Gaston, emphasizing his effectiveness and leadership skills.

“Senator Gaston has quickly proven himself to be a dedicated and effective leader,” Senator Looney said. “His remarkable ability to advocate for and secure essential resources for Bridgeport and Stratford, while maintaining an impeccable record of integrity, demonstrates his commitment and skill. I am proud to endorse him as he continues to work creatively and energetically for the people of the 23rd District.”

Senator Duff, D-Norwalk, echoed the sentiments, emphasizing Gaston’s achievements and unwavering dedication to his constituents.

“Throughout his first term, Senator Gaston has shown an exceptional ability to drive policy changes and direct resources for the benefit of communities across Bridgeport and Stratford,” Senator Duff said. “His spotless reputation and dedication to his constituents make him an invaluable leader. Senator Gaston represents the 23rd Senate District including sections of Bridgeport and Stratford. Democratic delegates overwhelmingly selected him as the party’s endorsed candidate during a convention on May 14.

  1. I have great respect for the president- Pro-Tempo and The Majority Leader of the Senate. Marty was the Majority Leader and I served as president Pro- Tempo of the Senate under Kevin Sullivan who was president of the Senate before he became Lt Governor but the Voters of Bridgeport and Stratford will decide who the next senator of the 23rd senatorial district will be not Hartford
