Republican Mayoral Candidate: Let The Intelligent Voter Decide Election

Republican candidate David Herz argues his case for mayor on Nov. 7: “And if they choose me, they at least have a chance at someone who will challenge the Democratic orthodoxy and machine to tackle the problems evident in blue cities across our nation.”

Herz commentary:

It’s funny that the same people who rally for greater voter access have no interest in voters actually thinking. Rather, it looks like initiatives to expand voter access also provide opportunities for more voter fraud.

The case between Messrs. Gomes and Ganim is easily enough decided. Both remain on the ballot. Those are already printed. Let intelligent voters choose the candidate that they think is best for them.

But Messrs. Gomes and Ganim are not fighting for intelligently made choices. They are fighting for the Democrat line. They are fighting for voters who reflexively vote the line regardless of the criminal background or record of the person whose name is in the box.

Let’s just have an election already. We’ll let the intelligent voter decide. And if they choose Ganim or Gomes or Daniels, it doesn’t really matter. They all come with the same Democrat presuppositions that have made our blue cities what they are.

And if they choose me, they at least have a chance at someone who will challenge the Democratic orthodoxy and machine to tackle the problems evident in blue cities across our nation.

  1. David Herz makes a strong point when he looks to be understood and appreciated by registered voters in the City who wish to be informed previous to stepping into a voting booth. There are about 22,000 unaffiliated voters along with 5,000 registered Republicans and these total enough, were they to become informed, and vote, into a major impediment to the entrenched, to say nothing of registered Democrats who see a future different from the incumbent. Informing the people has not been a mainstay of Ganim governance. For instance, he has failed to file an Annual Report on City governance to the Council each fall. That is a Charter requirement. But who is present for oversight? Where does enforcement begin?
Actually each of us is an overseer of governance between election days. Do you have knowledge of what your Council person accomplished in the past 24 months? What contribution to Budget commentary did they make? How many listening sessions did they hold in your District besides campaign meetings for primary or general election? What opportunity to listen to the people of your District did they take? Other than photo ops on social media, what have they contributed to your understanding of a living and breathing democratic community?
Democracy provides opportunity for all to speak, to assemble, to organize, sit at the table and lots more. Problems, issues, or concerns live on every street in the City. Are you heard? Do you speak up to City Council public speaking sessions? Are you informed? Do you actually vote? Activity Changes Things!!! Time will tell.

    1. John, why does the burden to inform the “unintelligent” voters fall on G2 for registered Democrats? Did Moore fail to inform in 2019? Is Danial failing to inform, John, or 20000 shades of ballot, Gen Now?

I can’t nor do I feel inclined to comment on who is the overseer of the city’s charter requirement. like most uninformed voters who are distant from the games of Port politics. Like hot dogs, they don’t really care to know what or how they are made as long as they taste good P.S. Nathans trumps them all. #trimming 🤣

However, the oversight of progress since G2 should not be DISMISSED on trivial charter hot dog trimmings to the uninformed votes on how much the city has accomplished toward its future as an arts and entertainment destination and quality of life. Have you seen some of the murals the city artists have created?

Here’s a question perhaps you can answer. How has G2’s time in office moved on “White Supremacy” Has minority black and brown employment and businesses increased? Please inform OIB and voters.

BTW perhaps democracy provides an opportunity for all to speak, assemble, and organize, but at the end of the vote, it elects a leader to lead. No?
