Ortiz Qualifies For Working Families Party Line

News release from Juliemar Ortiz:

Working Families Party candidate for the 23rd State Senate District Juliemar Ortiz announced today she will be on the November 8th general election ballot after receiving notice from the Secretary of the State’s office that her campaign collected the necessary petition signatures. Ortiz released the following statement:

“We are energized now more than ever to give Bridgeport and Stratford a real voice for change at the polls this November. Growing up in a working-class family, I’ve experienced first-hand the struggles hardworking people face–from evictions, to food insecurity, to racial and gender discrimination. We need more voices like ours at the table fighting for radical systemic change, social equity, and economic justice.

“Democratic nominee Herron Gaston is an outsider with direct ties to the Ganim administration, working a high-powered six-figure salary mayoral appointment for the City of Bridgeport. This clear conflict of interest must not be overlooked. I will work for the people and won’t sell you out to gain favor with the corrupt political machine. I’m ready to take on this fight and look forward to knocking on your door, talking to neighbors, making it clear that I am the only uncompromised, experienced, home-grown, progressive candidate in this race.”
