  1. So what is incongruous (that leads to laughter) about this cartoon:

Is it the hope and desire in the eyes of at least one of the duo opening the doors to the North Pole?

Is it the smoke stacks belching and spewing spumes of dark industrial smoke and gases into the atmosphere, contrasting greatly with our current skyline?

Is it the base portrayal of our Bridgeport hero who writes in defense of the discrediting of the town in which we live?

Was it our own Barnum who informed us it’s a great thing to be mentioned and noted, whether the news is good or bad??? Perhaps we might keep track of the various comments from those of temporary fame, i.e. they have passed and are forgotten while Bridgeport still lives, if you call this living.

    1. Perhaps another contest, Lennie? Actually Dad was writing longhand. Who does that today? It’s manifestly anti-blogging!

Actually, looking at this a second or third time, it reminds me of that other, sunnier, positive rendering … Surprise, It’s Bridgeport that we all viewed not too long ago.

Remember how Hizzoner is up to his boots in the Pequonnock with his flyrod in hand??? Well last week at the Trumbull sewer hearing when the “go it alone” Trumbull option was considered, I flashed to the same scene. Is Finch fishing in the same beautiful section of the Pequonnock River where Trumbull’s “processed sewage” outflow pipe would be located??? What kind of fish would he be seeking at that time?

Who was it who said, and in what context: “It’s all Bridgeport?”

  2. The guy writing the letter in the cartoon sounded like one of the embittered posters on this webzine. I think he’s either from the North End off Madison Avenue, or someone from off East Main Street north of Boston Avenue. (And NO, not TC.)

  3. By the way, the Connecticut Post analysis story on the ballot recount was excellent.

All jokers who criticize the effort want elections to stay the same. I don’t buy it, and neither should any other right-minded person.

Everybody knew there was a problem. The Post documented it. The documentation is helpful for crafting a solution. It is not a wasted effort, or merely a publicity stunt.

  4. THE Italian name for the fish he will be fishing for is acciuga or anchovy but it is better called and in this instance better suited sewer trout. It will be served a la Bucky Marsillio in the forced-down-our-throat version of the recipe.
