Thank you for sharing this, Lennie.
This forum is open to all citizens and elected officials who wish to engage in a constructive conversation about Bridgeport’s financial future, competitive posture and quality of life.
The mayor has been invited. All members of the City Council and state legislative delegation have been invited. To date, only one City Council member and one state legislator have indicated they are unable to attend.
To paraphrase President Obama: If you’re serious about our democracy, you can’t stay home.
City Council members get “so much” mail, Peter. It must be difficult to sort through the many opportunities presented to them, right?
Of course, courtesy comes to the fore with a handful perhaps who find they are otherwise disposed and say so. But is this a photo op that could be used in next year’s election? Have Mario or Mayor Ganim’s office suggested this might be a good learning experience? Is there good food or other reason to consider this gathering? Dismissive or cynical? Not necessarily. Realistic? Time will tell.
CW4BB’s David Walker who was the treasurer and then ran for Lieutenant Governor in the Republican primary in Connecticut and lost in the last election.
People should not be coming to an event like this to stuff their faces. People should be coming to events like this because they are concerned with the direction their communities are moving in. Forget about the Mayor, Mario and the City Council.
I will try to be there but this seems too early for me on a Saturday Morning. :/ I DO NOT want to hear another repeat of Dave Walker’s call for a Financial Review Board or WHATEVER you want to call it. IT will never happen. The ONLY way to enact change in Bridgeport is through the voting booth. Anything else will be ineffective. People should be organizing for any and all City elections in 2017 especially the City Council Elections. Anything else is a total waste of time. Unfortunately, I don’t see a citywide mobilization towards the 2017 City Elections.

Something to think about. There might be those who think the forum could be a platform for someone involved to run for office.
Ron,
Really? What “might those who think that” seriously need from us so our motivations were acceptable to them, for them and you to attend? 🙂
There’s so much serious work to be done.
I hope you’ll join us.

It’s not a question of how much “mail” City Council members get. They just don’t care.
I will be there and have sent an email reminding our 138th TC members and some involved neighbors.

Frank, Walker wants a “control board.”
