Who says Democrats and Republicans cannot get along? They can, and often do, in Connecticut. At least in comparison to the gridlock in Washington. The opening session of the General Assembly on Wednesday was a love fest. Republican House Minority Leader Larry Cafero, who has gubernatorial ambitions, seconded the nomination of Democrat Brendan Sharkey as Speaker of the House. Sharkey sent verbal hugs and kisses to Cafero in return. Such nice boys.
State Rep. Auden Grogins was introduced in her new role as Deputy Majority Leader. Andres Ayala is now officially the new state senator in Connecticut’s 23rd District, replacing Ed Gomes who he defeated in an August 2012 primary. Via text to OIB Christina Ayala described her oath as the new state representative of Connecticut’s 128th State House seat as “Breathtaking! Words cannot describe how honored I feel to finally be here.”
Christina Ayala will serve on the Appropriations, Children and Housing committees. It’s been quite a six months for Christina. Now that she’s officially a member of the state legislature Christina can move more conventionally in resolving her legal issues, charged in separate misdemeanors for leaving the scene of a car accident last August and domestic dispute involving her boyfriend last December.
She had only recently moved into the district she represents and had to satisfy Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey she was indeed a resident.
The State Elections Enforcement Commission is also looking into her residency and how that matched up to where she cast votes in recent elections.
Breathtaking is an understatement.
“Breathtaking” is not how I’d describe Christina Ayala’s continued service in the legislature. “Un-fucking-believable” is more apropos.
More like a Breathalizer.
More like a Breath-a-Lie-Zer!
off topic, but is Curwen leaving because of “climate change,” is Bridgeport getting too hot? Just asking.
Well, it certainly took my breath away. However, I find the term “barftaking” a bit more on point.
Keep a low profile, maybe a little persuasion behind the scenes, and it all blows over because the public has a short memory and is easily distracted … especially now with the Ernie Newton affair.
She also said “… serve on a positive note”–I predict more of a B Flat.
If these recent events don’t ring in with Bridgeport people a big change is needed now, nothing will.
Ayala is a nitwit who has no business running for public office in the first place. The city would be well served if all the Ayalas resigned their offices …
*** Let’s hope maybe by judging the cover before reading the book in this case proves many of her OIB critics wrong and she turns out to be a good Bpt-representing pol, no? ***
