Lamond Daniels Backs Scott Burns For State Senate

Scott Burns, left, with Lamond Daniels.

City Councilman Scott Burns was an early supporter of Lamond Daniels for mayor and on Wednesday Daniels reciprocated for the open-seat Democratic primary for state senate August 13 to replace a retiring Marilyn Moore in Connecticut’s 22nd District, according to a news release issued by the Burns campaign.

Burns has three foes in the Bridgeport, Trumbull and Monroe region: former Mayor Bill Finch, ex councilman Tyler Mack and Quinnipiac law professor Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox.

From the news release:

Daniels stated, “It is with my profound pleasure to endorse Scott Burns for the position of State Senator in the 22nd District. Scott brings compassion, integrity, and diligence to everything he takes on, and he will be a great Senator for the region and for the state.  We need strong, credible people in positions of leadership, and the voters of the region will be richly rewarded by sending Scott to the Senate.”

Burns declared, “I am deeply honored to receive Lamond Daniels’s endorsement for State Senator. Lamond’s run for Bridgeport mayor last year brought a new perspective to the race and pulled in voices and voters who too often are overlooked. That kind of leadership has inspired me to seek this position and create ever-higher expectations. With the respect I have for Lamond Daniels, this endorsement is very meaningful to me personally as well.”

  1. Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox and Finch In my opinion are definitely most qualified. But would like to know more about scott burns. Sujata has a law background and very intelligent. I do wonder if she could fully do her job as a professor and be a state senator. Those are two very demanding areas. Finch is also very qualified given that he was a former mayor and senator. However he can be difficult to work with and sometimes is black and white in his thinking. On the flip side Sujata does not have the same amount of political experience. But then again neither do most of our elected politicians who are granted these political positions based on chronism. i didn’t like him for that reason as mayor but will give him credit For doing a very good job of visioning and branding bridgeport as a green city. In comparison the current mayor, ganim, really has no clear branding for the city. It’s pretty embarrassing.

    1. Burns also supported the 50 unit housing project on Fairfield and Courtland Ave (NRZ) as well as the UI’s Monopole project, anyone can be the smartest guy on this council.
