I Cannot Wait To Land – Bridgeport Art Trail Virtuosos To Showcase Work In Venice, Italy

What do you do with leftovers?

Bridgeport Art Trail wizard Iyaba Ibo Mandingo makes use of them in extraordinary ways. See video above.

He’s part of a local contingent of artists excited about showcasing works in Venice, Italy, just days away.

City Lights leader Suzanne Kachmar reached out to OIB about our local artists blending unique canvasses across the way.

A suitcase art exhibit featuring Bridgeport Art Trail artists presents a different perspective than the common narrative that people in other countries may have about people in the United States, formed from popular culture and media.

Bridgeport’s involvement in this extraordinary opportunity would not have happened if not for the vision, energy and open heart of Peter Hopkins, director of the SHIM art network. Executive director of City Lights/Bridgeport Art Trail expresses her gratitude: “Peter Hopkins has opened the gate to the global art world! It’s a fabulous opportunity for the artists and an invigorating curatorial challenge.” The concept for the Bridgeport exhibit is a suitcase show, all work can be transported by suitcase, by the artists traveling to Venice to install the work, enjoy Venice and the Biennale. There will be daily videos and reports posted to the Only in Bridgeport site https://onlyinbridgeport.com/wordpress/  and the Bridgeport Art Trail Facebook page.

Artists and their work will arrive by August 30 and begin installing at the Palazzo Pisani. “…It’s like going on a family vacation, with our Bridgeport Art Trail family, most of the artists in the exhibit are coming over!” The Venice exhibit is supported and organized by City Lights/Bridgeport Art Trail https://bridgeportarttrail.org /, invited by Peter Hopkins artist/director of SHIM Art Network https://www.shimartnetwork.com/   SHIM is the lead organizer and curator of an entire floor of art at the Palazzo Pisani-Revedin in Venice’s centrally located Campo Manin.

Hi Robert, You are painting with a broad brush, please check out the Bridgeport Art Trail.
https://bridgeportarttrail.org/big-faces-and-postcards-to-venice City Lights/Bridgeport Art Trail artists range from academically trained to new, young, artists. We believe in presenting a full spectrum of creative expression and let the viewers make their decisions.
Check out the Bridgeport Art Trail city-wide open studios, city-wide arts celebration, the 16th annual is scheduled Nov. 7-10.2024.
On a practical side, the Bridgeport Art Trail offers free programs for youth that contextualize and enrich the learning experience for youth in Bridgeport schools and community centers. If the artist don’t find work opportunities in Bpt, they go to the affluent surrounding communities, Bridgeporters, especially youth suffer. The arts help to engage youth in learning. in 2 yrs (2021/2022) our some organization disseminated $300,000 to creative entrepreneurs through commissions, referrals, teaching work, sales and assistance with grant writing.

Suzanne, not only am I painting with a broad stroke, but I am using finger paint, by number. 🙂

I am far from a painter/drawing artist, though I do try to dabble in the art of comedy. 🤣

However, everybody is creative in their own right. Doesn’t everybody have a story? Shit even I have a story to tell. Though, sometime I tell in in the 1st person, or is it the 3rd person, Jesus people. 🤣

To be fair, art, particularly, the finer arts like painting, and sculpting is a more affluent thing. Like Blackrock Mame Callie, LVs 🙂

The common folks don’t have the luxury to decorate with such extravagants. By no means am I saying the artist who has been painting 🎨 murals throughout the Port or enhancing it with artworks is not a contribution to the city, far form it . It has enhanced the Port greatly. However, you and every artist do gauge the quality of work between artists, right? Or do you paint all creative artists with a broad stroke as equal in quality, and level? Am I lone in such a thing?

I depart with the artist/prophet. Thanks for sharing OIB

Suzanne, 300K, please, that’s Blackrock mama bear, Callie LV level

I mean, come on Artwork world, most of the Ports murals have more artistic skill/level than these artworks, am pretty sure they are not being paid tens of millions for their creativity.😂

Enjoy Venice and the birthplace of the Renaissance, artists of the Port. 🙂

BTW people, did you know bondage can be considered art? Though on a comical relief level and according to Joe S, it’s some crazy sex shit. 🤣
