Congressman Jim Himes will visit the city Tuesday morning, joining Mayor Bill Finch and a number of other regional development officials in recognition of Earth Day “to highlight the need for government assistance and action, especially in terms of brownfield revitalization, to help spur economic development and create jobs while improving public health and quality of life.” A round-table discussion will take place at the Barnum Avenue Business Center, 1526 Barnum Avenue. More from Himes:
They will host a roundtable discussion with representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (CT DEP), and local businesses to discuss how they can encourage other businesses to participate in brownfield revitalization. Following the meeting, Himes and Finch will tour three Bridgeport brownfields in various stages of redevelopment.
