If you’d like to join veteran budget hawks such as John Marshall Lee and Andy Fardy at City Council budget sessions conducted by the Budget and Appropriations Committee, a full schedule is now available as the committee reviews Mayor Bill Finch’s proposed spending plan. Budget overviews will take place Thursday 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. in the Legislative Services Office, second floor of the Morton Government Center, 999 Broad Street. On Monday, 6 p.m. a public hearing will take place on the General Fund in the City Council Chambers, 45 Lyon Terrace.
The budget committee is led by co-chairs Angel DePara and Sue Brannelly. Councilors Lydia Martinez, AmyMarie Vizzo-Paniccia, Carlos Silva and Howard Austin are also on the committee.

I just read the comments of Tom McCarthy in today’s CT Post. This guy is delusional. I know he drinks the Kool-Aid put out by Finch, but I didn’t realize he also swallowed the pitcher.
Tom for god’s sake at least be man enough to tell the truth when you are asked a question:
1. You state the council has in your 12 years made significant alterations to the mayors’ proposals.
A. That is total bullshit pure and simple. In the past two years I have been attending budget hearings and the council’s final vote on the Budget “NOT ONE CHANGE WAS EVER MADE TO THE MAYOR’S BUDGET SUGGESTIONS.” Tom, let me repeat that. “NOT ONE CHANGE WAS EVER MADE TO THE MAYOR’S BUDGET SUGGESTIONS.”
2. You state residents who oppose the tax hike need to make suggestions. You state the council wants to hear what services are important to them.
B. Tom, where do we make those suggestions? We can’t ask questions at the B & A hearings. We get 3 minutes to address the council on the budget and most times many on the council are not there and the ones who are there say nothing. Tom are you sure you are attending Bridgeport budget hearings?
Tom after you make the alleged cuts are you and the rest of Finch’s robber barons going to get another raise?
Tom just once stand up like a man and defend the people of Bridgeport. If you do that half as well as you blow smoke up Finch’s skirt the city will be a better place.
