From State Senator Ed Gomes:
Sen. Gomes Recognized by the Connecticut Pardon Team
Organization helps reformed former criminals get a fresh start with a clean record
In an early morning ceremony, State Senator Ed Gomes (D-Bridgeport) was recognized by members of the Connecticut Pardon Team today for services and support rendered to the organization over recent years.
“The Connecticut Pardon Team is a great organization that helps honest people who once made a mistake to get a second chance in life. Many people who committed an offense years ago, but have been conviction-free ever since, have to live with criminal records that limit their opportunities. The Pardon Team helps these people to get a fresh start, and I have been proud to support them,” said Senator Gomes.
“Senator Gomes has been a big influence and supporter of our work, and we have done a lot in Bridgeport together. Helping reformed individuals move past their criminal records allows them to get back to work and off of state support programs. That saves the state money, and also helps to reduce recidivism rates by giving people a new path in life. I do work in all fifty states on these issues, and Connecticut is so far the most advanced,” said Richard A. Caron, Sr., Executive Director of the CT Pardon Team.
Senator Gomes has been an advocate for the Connecticut Pardon Team and their assistance to reformed individuals for many years. He has organized meetings to help interested Bridgeport residents meet with CT Pardon Team members.
The Connecticut Pardon Team, Inc. was founded in 2004 to provide tools and information to Connecticut residents who wish to clear their criminal record through the state’s pardon process. Individuals eligible for help from the organization must:
Have been convicted of a crime and successfully completed parole/probation
Have remained conviction-free for at least 3 years with a misdemeanor conviction and 5 year with a felony
Have made significant steps toward rebuilding their lives
Be taking a proactive role in giving back to their communities, and setting an exceptional example for other convicted persons
And second-chancer Ernie Newton is running against him. Rather ironic, wouldn’t you say?
*** NEWTON DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE TOO, NO? MAYBE GOMES WILL VOTE FOR HIM FOR STATE SENATE! *** HERE WE GO! ***
The tenet here has to do with honest people who have made a mistake. Newton doesn’t fall into that category. He’s a self-important individual who thinks more of himself than the people who actually know him.
