Fire Captain Charged With Theft Of Funds

A Bridgeport Fire Captain has been arrested for allegedly stealing funds from the Firebirds Society, a fraternal organization that fights for the rights of minority firefighters.

Darrien Penix, 43, was charged on Monday with second degree larceny in which he is accused of embezzling funds using the Firebird Society’s credit card and checking account for his personal use, according to public safety spokesman Terron Jones.

He was booked and bond set at $50,000.

Statement from Fire Chief Richard Thode:

“We are disappointed to hear of these allegations and will take any further appropriate actions if these charges are found to be true. While we await the outcome of an investigation being conducted by the Fire Department’s Executive Officer, Captain Darrien Penix has been placed on Administrative Leave with pay, per union contract.”

  1. Loser. he is exactly the some as the those crooks because neither has been convicted in the court of law. In fact, I don’t think those “crooks” have even been charged by law enforcement yet, but why split hairs. It goes to my point though, bias,.(maybe racist) Not with standing you, Day, Ron, and JML had a lot to say about the scrap metal theft, alleged theft, JS
