From Mayor Bill Finch:
On Thursday, January 30, Mayor Bill Finch will host a community meeting regarding the planning for a new all-inclusive playground to be located in Beardsley Park, which will be accessible to children of all abilities.
This meeting is a follow-up to a community meeting held in October, which gave residents an opportunity to share their ideas regarding the design, planning and programming of this new park. Representatives from Stantec, the firm contracted by the City to design this park project, will provide renderings based on community feedback gathered from the initial community meeting.
Mayor Finch, City Council President Tom McCarthy, City officials and St. Vincent’s Special Needs Services have worked closely with Isabell Richardson, a Bridgeport resident whose son, Aaron passed away at the age of nine, on creating the City’s first all-inclusive playground.
“We had a great turnout for our kickoff meeting in October, which gave us an opportunity to hear some intriguing ideas from a diverse group of residents and stakeholders,” said Mayor Finch. “I am looking forward to seeing what our partners at Stantec have come up with based on the feedback we heard in October.”
