Finch Asks Santa For A Sled–How About $50 Million?

In case you missed the city’s tree lighting last week at McLevy Green you can check it out here. Cool shooting stars on display. How much did this lighting cost? Must be tens of thousands, in a week layoff notices went out. Bah humbug, Leonard … show your Christmas spirit.

Mayor Bill Finch asks Santa about that sled he always wanted. Speaking of sledding, I’d have asked Santa for $8 million this year and another $40 million to close next year’s slippery budget gap. Or maybe kryptonite for all potential mayoral candidates. Warning to all mayoral challengers, bring along a taste tester during the holiday punch season. Ya never know when someone will drop in a mickey.

  1. I don’t give a damn if you give Finch and his administration $100 Million they would screw it up and we would still be in debt.
Look at what we the voters of Bridgeport have created by our blind allegiance to the Bridgeport Democratic party. You can blame Testa and the 90-member town committee. You can blame John Stafstrom as many of the political hires are his.
A big portion of the blame can go to the 20-member common council who have stood by and watched this deficit grow. This is the same council that in chorus with the mayor has asked for givebacks from all the union members of the city workforce while they take their individual $9,000 stipend for a job they begged and promised their neighbors they wanted no matter what. Have they tightened their belts? HELL NO!!! In fact many of them have received healthy raises for themselves and relatives. Example #1, Tom McCarthy, a charter member of the NBA club.
Lennie you don’t want to be scrooge well I don’t mind. There should not have been a tree lighting as long as 1 city employee was being laid off. I bet that whole project cost in the neighborhood of $25K. Do you think the laid-off employees will have a merry Xmas?

  2. *** The city needs more than just happiness, however on a more positive note there seemed to be a nice crowd @ the green enjoying the night’s Xmas tree lighting! *** Merry Xmas Bpt! ***

  3. *** It’s Xmas time, and Bpt’s children who don’t have much to be thankful for @ times should not be held accountable for this admin’s failures & city budget. Besides everyone needs a little Xmas spirit to relieve the everyday stress of this crazy world, no? *** Have some Xmas cheer! ***
