The self-described feminist restaurant and bookstore with a vegetarian menu that defined the Black Rock neighborhood is giving away its last few remaining items after closing its doors last December. Among the items being given away include tables, filing cabinets, chairs and desks.

Earlier this year, items from the restaurant, including china, tableware, Bloodroot mementos, cookware, posters, pamphlets, looms, books and art, were sold at an estate sale.
Founded by Noel Furie and Selma Miriam, Bloodroot had operated out of 85 Ferris St. in Bridgeport’s Black Rock neighborhood for 48 years. The decision to close came months after the death of Miriam.
