Officials in the Registrar’s Office on Wednesday completed their review of petition signatures submitted by candidates trying to qualify for the September 10 Democratic primary. The names of the following primary qualifiers have been submitted to the Town Clerk’s Office which will now create a ballot that will become available August 20 for absentee ballot applicants prior to the actual primary date.

On July 23 the 90-member Democratic Town Committee endorsed Joe Ganim for another four-year term.
Town Clerk Charles “Don” Clemons and City Clerk Lydia Martinez were endorsed for another term, as were Dennis Scinto, Steve Nelson and Mitch Robles for city sheriff slots.
The Town Committee also endorsed incumbent Sybil Allen, school parent Albert Benejan and political newcomer Bobbi Brown for Board of Education.

Tony Barr was Dennis Bradley most loyal and Bradley biggest supporter so there is no way that on State Senator Dennis Bradley will not support Tony Barr but I do remember that Maria was a big supporter of Joe Ganim and Dennis Bradley when Ganim made his comeback and Maria ran with Bradley for the BBOE. Just saying and stating the facts.

Please remember that Dennis Bradley lost Thomas Hooker School by 150 votes last year.
Joe Ganim won Thomas Hooker by 150 votes in 2015, and lost Thomas Hooker School by 48 votes last year against Ned Lamont. That would be 198 vote swing.

Maria, in your assessment of Marilyn Moore’s campaign for mayor there are a few things that have great value that you didn’t mention, first Marilyn has great name recognition in the black church and with black female voters. The most loyal voter in the Democratic Party nation wide and here in Bridgeport are the black female voters. Marilyn’s involvement with the “Witness Project” program for women with cancer and Marilyn Moore being elected to the State Senate, that’s the undercurrent that you don’t see and that it’s seen on OIB or in the media. You might not recognize these qualities in Marilyn Moore but Joe Ganim definitely does that’s why he’s out there running like he has never ran before. Yes, more work must be done but don’t underestimate Marilyn Moore.

I cannot speak about what is occurring City wide, however I have already knocked on hundreds of door in the 138th District.
The majority of voters have no idea she is running, who she is or what she stands for.
The only voters who have made negative comments about her and have indicated they will NOT vote for her have been Black voters.
In 2016, when I was canvassing in Park City Magnet for my State Rep. race I was also distributing Marilyn’s literature and educating voters about her candidacy.
The only voters that had negative views of her and repeatedly stated they would not vote for her were Black female voters.
This is not an exaggeration. It is 100% accurate.

Wait a minute.. Do you remember the two ice rink/juice bar proposal with Primrose Construction when Mrs. Guedes(aka Primrose Construction..aka her husband and family)was on one of the City of BPT. Boards. If I remember BPT Civil Service Commission. This board does nothing. As if we need two ice rinks in Downtown Bridgeport. Sort of reminds of handcuffs. But I digress.
I think I posted this but anyway. The Majestic-theater project is dead as of now. Also,the two-ice rink proposal by Ganim and Primrose construction(Guedes Family) has not been heard since it Ganim brought out his announcement tent.

Maria P. sets great store by her personal accuracy and honesty and I respect that, but I am very aware of how the context of 2019 is different from 2016. By the way back in the day when those Black female voters shared their opinion with Maria P. WHO WAS THE OPPONENT THAT THEY SUPPORTED or did they have an opinion which they would share, but fail to use their vote??
The context of 2019 Mayoral race appears very different to me. Ron Mackey speaks to a broader appreciation among those who know Marilyn’s work, family and community history. As that becomes more well known, accepted and trusted it will present a bold alternative to Ganim2’s current administration where taxpayers, school age youth and public participation in governance process have been ignored in favor of a secret and unproductive MACHINE AGENDA. Trust, respect, integrity? Time will tell.
JML, when a young Joe Ganim got elected as mayor the first time he didn’t have any real connection to the black community, he no community involvement with anything until Mt. Thrashmore became a issue after years of no one doing anything. Joe Ganim was a young rich white guy from Eatson and backed by his daddy’s money who is a Republican and who ran for elective office as a Republican. Marilyn Moore has a lifetime involvement in the City she resides in starting as a young girl living in the Hollow section Bridgeport and attending Bridgeport public schools which is something that Joe Ganim knows nothing about and it shows every year with his under funding of the over 21,000 Bridgeport school children.
Marilyn’s deep involvement with the Witness Project, founded in 2002, the Witness Project serves underserved women in Bridgeport, Norwalk and Stamford and provides culturally sensitive breast health education, patient navigation services for uninsured women and sponsors mammography screening days in the community. All of these efforts combined help facilitate early detection which is key to survival of breast cancer. The Witness Project provides education, screening, diagnostic and treatment advice, and support service for African American women throughout the state of Connecticut. This what you call real community outreach about health of the community and the life and death health issues. WOM, the Word Of Mouth about Marilyn Moore is all over Bridgeport because of her years of being truly connected to the City.
