The legislature’s Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee on Monday approved a bill 46-4 legalizing mixed martial arts matches in Connecticut. What an intriguing vote, considering just last week many of the Democratic-dominated pols on the committee voted to abolish the death penalty claiming it was governmental barbarism. Well, what the hell is extreme fighting? This stuff makes professional wrestling look like Tai Chi. And how can Democratic Party State Chair Nancy DiNardo and surrogates now criticize Republican U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon effectively when Nancy’s peeps voted to advocate a gladiator-like event designed to flow blood like a mountain stream?
Let’s guess, some lobbyist pigeon-holed legislative leadership to support this because it will drive folks to more arena dates around the state such as Hartford and Bridgeport. Part of the argument for its passage is these events already take place at the state’s two tribal nation gaming operations. Well, if that’s the rationale why not just expand gaming around the state? Even if this bill does not clear the full state legislature in this session, majority Dems are already on record supporting it. Revoke the death penalty one week, embrace a blood sport the next. That noise you just heard was the collective smile of McMahon supporters.

You’re on you high hobby horse today. I thought you liked this stuff.
I only like blood at political conventions. Paging Mario and Rizzy.
Maybe Linda and Nancy need to go Thai Won On!
I want to see Foster and Finch go at it again.
Isn’t there any way to hijack this charter revision commission and get them to put a two-year mayoral term on the ballot? I’m bored of education. I did lousy in school myself.
One of the criticisms of violence on TV was it would make children more violent. So they substituted sex for violence.
Allowing live “death” matches in Connecticut will be followed by live sex shows. That idea will generate lots of viewers and lots of taxes.
