Daniel Frank Lupariello, age 76, of Shelton, beloved husband of Dorothy (Hopper) Lupariello and father of Frank D. Lupariello, passed away peacefully on Thursday , August 27, 2026, in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport May 14, 1950, he was the son of the late Frank and Julia (Cefola) Lupariello and a Shelton resident for many years.
Survivors include his brother, Dr. Angelo Lupariello (Chuck) and wife, Maryjean, sister-in-law, Claire Ervin and her husband Craig, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Concetta (Lupariello) Fraccascia.
Daniel was graduated from Fairfield College Preparatory School, Class of 1968, and St. John’s University School of Pharmacy, Class of 1972. Upon graduating from college, Daniel joined his father in the family business, Lupe’s Drug Store #2, in Bridgeport. Upon his father’s retirement, Daniel and Dorothy continued to operate the pharmacy from 1984 to their retirement in 2019. Daniel’s hard work ethic, integrity, generosity, and concern for his customers was truly noteworthy. He mentored several pharmacists and pharmacy technicians over the years and many benefited from his knowledge and advice.
Daniel was the former president of the Greater Bridgeport Pharmaceutical Association and had been named in 2011 as Pharmacist of the Year by the CT Pharmaceutical Association. He was a former health commissioner for the Town of Trumbull, former Democratic District Leader of the 135th District of Bridgeport, former board member of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Bridgeport and former Vice-President of the Mary-Glen Home for Unwed Mothers in Bridgeport. He served as the president of the PTO of St. Jude’s School, Monroe. He was currently an advisor of Kindred Nursing Services in Bridgeport, a board member of the Beach Drive Condominium Association HOA in Lordship, and on the finance board of St. Joseph’s Church in Shelton.
Daniel had a great passion for dog rescue and was involved with several area rescue groups. He had a close connection with Bridgeport Animal Control. Upon his retirement, he took a more active role in rescue and spent many happy hours at PAWS in Norwalk, CT advocating for dogs and their adoptions, mentoring dogs, and found much joy in helping to place dogs in their forever homes. Daniel was predeceased by only a few weeks by his faithful companion, Prince. They were true soulmates.
Through his illness, Daniel was treated at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Yale New Haven Hospital and St Raphael’s Hospital. The family would especially like to acknowledge his Primary Care Provider, Geraldine Marrocco, his cardiologist, Dr. Anja Wagner, and his podiatrists, Dr. Daniel Davis and Dr. Denisa Riera, for their exceptional concern and care, as well as the many nurses, aides, technicians, and therapists who were involved with his care. We would also like to acknowledge Visiting Angels of Woodbridge and Hartford Health Care at Home for their compassionate care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Joseph Church, 50 Fairmont Place, Shelton. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, September 1st from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
