Confused About The Mayoral Candidates? Split Your Vote

Ganim and Finch signs
Vote split?

If you’re a North End voter with arms tugged sharply in opposite directions by the campaigns of Joe Ganim and Bill Finch, there’s only one logical thing to do. Plant yard signs for both on your property.

In this crazy September 16 Democratic primary race between Ganim, Finch and Mary-Jane Foster, a yard in the North End features a Ganim sign “Stop Raising Taxes, Vote Joe Ganim” and a traditional Finch black on yellow sign for mayor. The Ganim sign is a bit peculiar to the immediate eye, however. You must be very close to the sign, otherwise it gives the appearance “STOP Joe Ganim,” the “raising taxes vote” lettering between in smaller type. Ganim has a large volume of those signs distributed throughout the city.

  1. Hahaha. That’s very cool. It looks like “STOP BILL FINCH,” which is what many of us would like to do.

Come election day in November, Tax Bill Finch will be STOPPED, hard. It’s a safe bet his “friends” will not cast him and his family to the wind. He’ll get a job in DiNardo’s Starbucks franchise at Steal Point.

  2. Wow. No sex for that couple until maybe, New Years 2017. (Hopefully taxes won’t go up for them and they’ll be able to reconcile in that house.)

Joe; when you win on September 16, send them some Bijou tickets and a bottle of Champagne from Brookside Package Store.

  3. Actually, “stop the taxes” was used against Bill Finch in 2011 by the Bridgeport RTC. Just more regurgitated politicians and political BS given to us by the Democrats.

  4. Stop Ganim!!! Vote Bil Finch!

Has everyone seen that project on Cherry Street? That will change the image from I-95 along with Steelpointe. That’s the problem with Channel 12. They repeat it every 30 minutes, sometimes for two days. 336 units of desperately needed low-income housing. The creation of a new neighborhood a Charter school and a grocery store. That will be a very welcomed addition to the neighborhood. This is a great reuse of obsolete manufacturing facilities throughout the city. Kudos to the developer and apparently they are looking to develop other parcels. I thought the groundbreaking today with Finch and Malloy also showed the public our Mayor has a solid working relationship with Dan Malloy. Very important for our future!!!

  5. Wicca, it’s not so much the messaging, but who has the integrity to follow through on their commitments to the people. i.e. Finch’s promise of a $600 rebate to the taxpayer.

    1. That is eight years old, Quentin. Honestly, the cornerstone of Foster’s failed 2011 campaign and we are regurgitating an eight-year-old promise that would have been nice if the City weren’t paying $1400 per taxpayer for Ganim’s “mistakes.” $600 rebate was eight years ago. So much development, new schools, Steelpointe, Downtown, ballparks and waterpads under the bridge and you guys are talking about an eight-year-old rebate. Ladies and gentlemen, it doesn’t get any more pathetic than that. We have Republicans, Ganim supporters and Foster supporters who are talking about an eight-year-old rebate when Bridgeport is beginning to be exciting. Only in Bridgeport. It is clear Mayor Finch will have another four years and G-d knows how exciting our city will be in four years. Notice I said our city. I never met a bunch of negative miserable individuals who just can’t stand Bridgeport coming back to life. On one hand we have a convicted felon who ripped off the city and on the other we have a businesswoman with no government experience. We have a maupr who is supported by the Governor and U.S. Senators. Every union that yes are working making good wages building Downtown, Steelpointe, Cherry Street Lofts, Harding High school. Yes there are Bridgeporters in that group. 100s of jobs for those entering the workforce. Middle and upper management jobs down the road. A new hotel, a luxury movie theater and restaurant. Bass Pro with its bowling alleys, restaurants, aquariums and boats, etc. A boardwalk and Marina opening up the waterfront. Pleasure Beach open for the first time in nearly 30 years. Is that not enough for starters? Honestly, the entire city will be rallying around Finch in the next few days simply because the alternative is too much to even ponder. And before the insults roll, save it! There is nothing you have to combat this. This is my blurb. This is why I do not have to mention Joe or Mary-Jane. There are just too many excellent projects about to take off. Get on the bus or get out of the way! With seven days left Finch has a great narrative. Joe’s redemption story is a fairy tale and Mary-Jane, well she was ill-advised.

      1. “That is eight years old, Quentin.”

News of the Federal Bridgeport Probe broke out in mid 2001–14 years old.

Joe Ganim convicted on the contracts negotiated, vetted, and approved by then Contracts and Appointments Committee Chair Bill Finch in 2003–12 years old.

Here you are regurgitating for Bill Finch’s old broken, scratched, sun-ruined vinyl record. Ladies and gentlemen; those in between, see how fast it gets severely pathetic? Only in Steven’s world.

      2. Is it me? Reading Stevie Auerbach’s BS reminds me of that old movie, the “Truman Show” with Jim Carrey. Everything is wonderful until September 16th! That’s when the Auerbach will hit the fan!

    2. You were addressing the “regurgitated” messaging apparently created by the RTC, so I did.

Also, folks are being relentlessly pestered by the Finch Campaign to take signs. You will see dual signs here and there, in an attempt to stop the phone and doorbell from ringing. This I know to be a fact.

  6. It looks like everyone has dismissed Foster. She got a obligatory mention in the first couple of lines of the article but it then goes on to only discuss Joe and Bill. She does not even have a sign.
