After 16 years of huffing and puffing, kicking and screaming, probing and posturing, and serving as the resident legislative curmudgeon, Bob “Troll” Walsh is no longer a member of the City Council. That cheer you just heard came from everyone who ran into Troll’s fangs, or viewed him as a problem maker versus problem solver. Whatever the opinion, right or wrong, Troll was unafraid to take on the establishment, be it mayors Joe Ganim, John Fabrizi or Bill Finch, especially for budgetary issues. We’ve probably not heard the last of the Troll. He likes it that way. The term of office for Mayor Bill Finch and more than two dozen other elected officials who’ll receive the oath of office tonight in City Council chambers officially began at 12:01 a.m. Thursday.
