Center For Domestic Justice To Host Violence Awareness Vigil At Amp

From Center for Family Justice:

We hope you can join us for a night of solidarity which will also serve as a call to action for those who support our mission to provide life-saving programs and services to victims of domestic violence.
The Center for Family Justice will host its annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Vigil from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 9 at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport.
We need to raise our voices especially loud this year so state and federal lawmakers hear us!

Funding for the Victims of Crime Act has decreased over the years even though the need for our services has increased due to the pandemic and a tough economy. In Connecticut, VOCA funding has dwindled from $36 million in 2018 to an anticipated $9 million in 2025 – a 75% reduction!

Lives depend on federal and state policymakers to prioritize funding for survivors.

Our staff provides life-saving services to those experiencing domestic violence – including advocacy, court services, clinical help for children, and emergency shelter.
Please come and support our vigil – where we will honor people who support our work, survivors of domestic abuse, and our staff of dedicated advocates, clinicians, and attorneys who work on the front lines every day.
The event is free and open to the public. Dance Workshop, from Monroe, will have students perform and many community partners will also be attending.
The Center for Family Justice provides free and confidential programs and services for those impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and child abuse. We serve Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull.
