  1. I don’t know what’s going on but there seems to be a whole lot of stuff on the agenda to give Canfield Avenue and Congress Plaza tax breaks.
STOP. There is no rush especially under present circumstances.
WAIT awhile. Nothing is being done and we don’t even have a clue as to what awaits us after this phase of Coronavirus passes and if there will be another.
I saw it after the last recession. Every one wants a tax break. Nothing will be done in the next couple of months. Do believe this big rush is needed right now.

  2. The item that says First Amendment to the Facility Development and Operating Agreement is to give Howard Safrin another $4.5 million dollars.
This should first go the B & A to see even if the Council has the will to commit the money. It should not go to ECDC. If not that then there should be a joint referral.
I’ve seen this game played before.

    1. Ernie, kudos to you for bringing up Joe’s failure to purchase masks because of the $40,000 cost attached..$300,000 for attorneys to get his friends off is ok,but $40,000 for masks is just too much I guess…

When does it go to B & A?
The city has traditionally played games with Capital Expenditures. If they put $100,000 in the Capital Plan then they can spend as much as they want. If it’s in the Capital Plan then they get to spend unallocated amounts however they want.
Contracts and Economic Development does not include spending oversight.

It may make sense from and Economic Development point of view. And the contract may be well written but the ‘solution’ does not provide for monetary oversight. It should go to Budget FIRST.
If there is no money there is nothing else to decide.

    4. The contract was poorly written or poorly applied. The first chance they get they are looking for more money. And I’ve seen this game played before.

I’ve read the contract I have many questions this is what happens when people rush contracts through I wasn’t on the City council when this deal was done

That contract was approved by the old council before new council was sworn in. I didn’t vote on that contract
