Mayoral candidate John Gomes reports he and members of his slate have submitted roughly 3,250 signatures to the Registrar’s Office with about 2,100 validated signatures of Democratic voters required to wage a September 12 primary against Mayor Joe Ganim.
The deadline for candidates to submit petition sheets is Wednesday, 4 p.m. Lamond Daniels and Marilyn Moore are also trying to qualify for the primary.
The Gomes campaign has submitted a sturdy cushion to guard against rejected signatures. Generally 10 to 20 percent of signatures submitted are disallowed for a variety of reasons, including signers not being registered Democrats.
Gomes should hear from election officials within a few days about ballot approval.
“I want to thank all the members of the slate and campaign volunteers for their hard work in the last two weeks,” says Gomes. I would also like to thank all the signers of petition forms who desire change in the current leadership of Bridgeport.”
Impressive
Maybe a little off-topic, but it could have some bearing on the local economy — and certainly contains inferences regarding the overall, larger economy… (Look for a reference to M & T Bank in about the 3rd or 4th paragraph)
