The recently sold building that once housed the Connecticut Post printing plant on State Street Downtown will have new life as a multi-vendor market.
More from CT Post reporters Brian Lockhart and Andrew DeRosa:
O’Grodnick is a local artist and art consultant for the city. After hearing about Mongers’ initial closing plans at the beginning of May, he contacted New York City-based developer Kiumarz Geula, who was in the process of purchasing 588 State St. O’Grodnick thought the old manufacturing building would be a great replacement space.
…The Recollective will fit approximately 50 booth spaces across two floors with cafe on the lower level with seating. There will also be an elevator and staircases to bring guests between the floors. The cafe will feature Bridgeport’s Sound Coffee as well as Rudeboy Baking Co.
Mongers Market vendors like the Vintage Frenchy, Yellow Sky Collective and ReTwee Vintage are among those who are already signed on to participate. O’Grodnick said there are already more than 40 sellers who are part of The Recollective with some occupying multiple spots inside of the building. He said more spaces will become available when they open the another area on the property in a couple of months.
