Former State Senator Ernie Newton, having satisfied restitution as part of his sentencing on corruption charges he completed a few months ago, has rejoined the Democratic Party.
Surrounded by friends, the Moses of his peeps registered to vote Friday morning. As an elector Newton is now eligible to seek public office. The question is which one? For now Ernie is keeping the speculation burning. Connecticut state law allows residents with a felony record to vote provided they’re not currently incarcerated and have paid all court-ordered fines and restitution.
