Among the voluminous stacks of hacked emails of Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Chairman John Podesta comes a little, local WikiLeaks-revealed nugget titled “GOOD READS FROM ELSEWHERE” detailing an article in the Hartford Courant chronicling Joe Ganim’s historic mayoral comeback victory last November.
A photo caption and passage from the article by reporters Christopher Keating and Greg Hladky were emailed to Podesta November 5, 2015. The excerpt was sandwich by a reference to Bernie Sanders’ call to legalize marijuana and an LA Times article “The difference between high fructose corn syrup and sugar? Jurors will decide.”

Democrat Joe Ganim celebrates with his son Rob after winning the election as Bridgeport’s new mayor at Testo’s Restaurant on Tuesday. Ganim is an ex-convict who spent seven years in federal prison for corruption. (Cloe Poisson/Hartford Courant via AP)–Hartford Courant, “Bridgeport comeback complete: It’s once again Mayor Joe Ganim,” by Christopher Keating and Gregory B. Hladky:
“In a victory that would have been unthinkable only six months ago, convicted felon Joe Ganim won his city hall job back Tuesday night as he soundly defeated six other candidates to become Bridgeport’s next mayor. ‘Some will call this a comeback story. For me it is a city that I never left. I never stopped caring about the challenges that people face in every neighborhood,’ Ganim told throngs of supporters. As the leader of the state’s largest city, Ganim again becomes a key player in state Democratic politics because of the size of the city’s delegation at party conventions. Ganim has a rocky relationship with the state’s top Democrat, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who repeatedly refused to endorse him during the campaign. Malloy, however, said the people of Bridgeport should not be punished for the past criminal actions by Ganim. In 2003, Ganim was convicted by a federal jury on 16 felony counts of racketeering, bribery, conspiracy, mail fraud, and tax evasion for accepting more than $500,000 in cash, diamonds, expensive wine, tailored clothing, high-priced meals, and home renovations in a widespread kickback scheme that led to the convictions of 10 of his associates. He served seven years in federal prison and then was eventually released from a Hartford halfway house in 2010.”
Bridgeport doesn’t need WikiLeaks. Just ask DeJesus’ 2015 Campaign for State Senate.
BRIDGEPORT DOES NOT NEED:
1. Mayor Joe Ganim.
2. Former chief Chapman.
3. Former FBI agent Adams.4. John Gomes
5. C Curry.
6. Chief of Police.
7. The entire BOE elected officials.
8. Library board.
9. Official who did away with loose leaf pick up.
10. 20 idiots elected to CC,
11. Office full of Hamilton Burgers hoping to be the first one to win a court case for this city.
12. Tom Gil and the Office of Economic Development. Ain’t nothin’ getting developed.
13. The Port Authority. If Gina is running it in her spare time, it’s not doing anything for the city.
14. Ex-Mayor Finch wants to donate the Old Tappan Zee Bridge for Pleasure Beach and Congress St., but only if Ganim reinstates McCarthy and Sherwood as toll attendants. JML said “NO Flucking WAY! It’s hard enough keeping my eyes on Flatto!”
15. The Police Mounted Patrol. Send them out to pasture.
But keep the horses.
Department Heads who live outside of Bridgeport. Can’t do it in Hartford or New Haven.
