Services for Margaret Finch, mother of former Mayor Bill Finch, will take place on Friday and Saturday.
Margaret Cole Finch, “Marge”, age 85, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Finch, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at St. Vincent’s Hospital with her family by her side. Born in New Haven on October 19, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Edward F. Cole and Gertrude Enscoe Cole and was a longtime resident of Trumbull and Bridgeport. Before her retirement, Margaret was a teller at Fleet Bank and with the town of Trumbull. Left to cherish her memory are four children, Bill Finch (Sonya), Elizabeth Berry (Eddie), Edward Finch (Jenniegrace) and Rosemary Yost (John), nine grandchildren, Peter, Christopher, Billy, Andrea Harder (Brandon), Tommy, Atticus, Mark, Aiden and Paul, a great grandson, Brodie, a sister, Rosemary Sette (Paul), a brother, Robert Cole, a sister-in-law, Muriel Falanga and a brother-in-law, Donald Finch (Paula) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marge was well known for many years as a school volunteer, band parent and elected member of several school PTAs over many years of her children’s education. She was active in civic affairs and encouraged her children to be involved. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities of Fairfield County.
