Good grief Joe, this is the best you can do? On a night the UConn Huskies cemented winning-streak history at Webster Bank Arena, UConn alumnus Mayor Joe Ganim canned a beer bet with Irving Texas Mayor Beth Van Duyne. Joe won a case of Texas beer from Mayor Beth. Joe put on the line a case of micro-brewed beer from Black Rock’s Aspetuck Brew.
Come on Mayor Beth, how about some Texas Long Horn beef to go with that beer? Joe loves beef. And back in the day some ’82 Chateau Lafite to wash it down!
“This is a great year to be a Huskies fan and watch our undefeated women once again advance towards the national title right here in Bridgeport,” said Mayor Ganim. “I told Mayor Van Duyne that she is brave to put in a wager against this Huskies team, but she is a good sport and has agreed to ship us a case of locally brewed Texas beer should UCONN come away victorious tonight. Of course, I will do the same if Texas wins. In any case we are looking forward to an exciting competition tonight! GO HUSKIES!”
Hmmm, will Mayor Beth deliver that case of beer personally to Bridgeport?
Update: The mayors have upped the bet: “A UCONN Huskies hoodie in exchange for a bet of Dallas Cowboys gear that Mayor Van Duyne is betting on the Longhorns.”
Mayor Beth Van Duyne, that’s okay, you don’t have to pay up.
*** That’s a hot mama of a mayor, no? I would bet a wine and dinner at a restaurant of choice to the winner! You know it would be in CT because the Texas team has no chance in hell in beating our “LADY HUSKIES!” What’s the best restaurant in CT, OIB bloggers? *** TESTO’S OF COURSE! ***
Come on, everyone. This is BRIDGEPORT where you pay to play.
Proper odds would require the Mayor of Irving to put up a bottle of beer and Mayor Ganim to wager a case.
Wagered a beer with this lovely woman? Is that the best he could offer? Based on the fact alone she is a visiting mayor from another state, wouldn’t it have been appropriate to take her to dinner?
