Torres Mailer: Bridgeport Deserves A Second Chance

Torres mailer

Some people seek a first chance, Democratic mayoral nominee Joe Ganim urges a second chance. Republican mayoral candidate Rick Torres proclaims Bridgeport deserves a second chance. That’s part of the message in his first general election mailer laden with language and images including JFK as the GOP candidate seeks a broader audience in a heavily Democratic city.

The mailer asserts “There’s been a lot of talk during this campaign about second chances … I believe Bridgeport deserves a second chance,” clearly a reference to Ganim’s second-chance message. Torres’ mailer hits on a number of populist themes in his quest to transcend political party.

  1. The two mailers I received from Rick today were excellent. Full of ideas and hope for Bridgeport. Excellent, workable ideas. These were “up-beat” pieces, not “beat-up” pieces.

Rick knows what this city, and other Connecticut cities, needs.

As I’ve said before; Rick would advocate very effectively for Bridgeport in Hartford or Washington. I believe only Joe Ganim has the experience and skills to get Bridgeport moving again from the inside. With Rick in Congress and Joe in City Hall, this place could really thrive again!

  2. Totally disgusting. Putting a picture of JFK and a quote trying to suck up to Democrats. He talks Republican, walks Republican but now is trying to run as a Democrat. What happened to his Rush Limbaugh moment?

    1. Disgusting is your candidate making deals with the devil. I hope she becomes mayor just so everyone can see what deal she cuts Bill. But that’s not going to happen. Her winning, that is.

    2. JFK sent the wrong message to citizens. Look for and vote for the right solutions? We see it as a wake-up message, as opposed to your partisan message of suck-up.

      1. Jennifer–poor Rick cannot figure out whether he’s a chip off JFK’s block or Rush Limbaugh’s. But for certain he’s a chip off Malcolm X’s block–his “Power to the People” campaign slogan is right out of Malcolm X’s playbook–and his Black Panther tattoo is a quite a chip off their block.

    3. Bob, he is not the Republican some might want to see him as. He is to the far left of both Democratic camps in Bridgeport. Put Bridgeport People first. Eliminate the giveaways. That is the Torres campaign in a nutshell.

          1. I’m glad Torres is not saying anything against his party, that shows the voters how loyal he is to the Republican Party.

          2. Well, he lost his RTC chairman seat when he endorsed Caruso. He just endorsed Democrat John Marshall Lee for his incumbent city council seat. Talk is cheap, actions speak volumes.

        1. Jennifer, that shows Rick Torres doesn’t really know what he is, a Republican or a Democrat, in fact he doesn’t know if he wants to be mayor or a city council member and now we’re supposed to vote for someone who can’t make up their mind.

          1. And your candidate, I’m Out, I’m In Foster? Rick knows exactly who he is and what he stands for. Like I said, talk is Cheap.

  3. Bob, JFK wouldn’t be allowed in today’s Democrat Party. He believed in the virtue of personal responsibility.
“Don’t ask what the country can do for you, but what you can do for the country!”
Today everybody is a victim and we’re all owed something.

  4. I don’t know Ron, are they? Those are Democrat and RINO policies. Maybe Hillary can answer that question. Her whole life has been paid for by Wall Street and foreign governments. Or maybe the 10 richest people in America who are Democrats could answer that. You can also ask George Soros who makes a living at destroying financial markets and re-purchases at below market rate. Or maybe famous Democrat Mark Zuckerberg who hires employees on work visas over Americans at half the income while taking advantage of tax exemptions. Would you like me to go on?
