Carpenters Endorse Finch

News release from Finch campaign:

Today, the New England Regional Council of Carpenters (NERCC) Local 210 announced that they are supporting Mayor Bill Finch’s re-election bid.

In announcing their support, the NERCC Local 210 cites Mayor Finch’s committment to putting local Bridgeport carpenters first.

“As someone born and raised in Bridgeport who graduated from Bullard-Havens, I have worked as a carpenter–or represented carpenters–for more than 30 years,” said Glenn Marshall, President of the NERCC Local 210. “No elected official has done more to put local Bridgeport carpenters to work with good wages, benefits, and training than Mayor Bill Finch.”

The NERCC Local 210 represents more than 1,200 workers in Western Connecticut, including Bridgeport. And, regionally, the NERCC represents more than 20,000 carpenters and 2,000 signatory contracts.

“Bridgeport continues to move in the right direction and my friends at the Carpenters Local 210 have helped,” said Mayor Finch.” I want to thank all of them for their support, but more importantly for all of the hard work they’ve done here in Bridgeport. I’m truly honored to receive their support for my re-election campaign.”

  1. Great news for the Finch campaign. Great news for all the friends and families of these workers. Bridgeport is on the verge of things. Every endorsement received translates into confidence in Mayor Finch’s leadership and belief we are on the right track. The fact he is environmentally sensitive and is ahead of the curve on green issues is just icing on the cake.

  2. Another example of playing favorites to the unions. No one cares about “Local 210.” What about the biggest union of all, “Local Bridgeport Taxpayers?” The carpenters don’t even live in Bridgeport. So this means there will be tons of construction coming to Bridgeport but because Finch has now committed to this UNION the jobs will go to people who don’t live in Bridgeport when the construction begins. That really sucks. How about supporting the union called “Local BT?” That is Local Bridgeport Taxpayers.

    1. Bridgeporters are not members of this union? Didn’t Ganim have the same union endorsements during his three terms?

See BptPorter, Finch can do no right by you and your posts just become silly ramblings. Ganim got these same endorsements and now they go to Finch. They are important. These jobs being created are important and that is what will determine the outcome of the election.

      1. Yes, Ganim got the endorsements too and like I said, who cares. The endorsements only help them get elected, they don’t do much for Bridgeport. See, the problem is you think I am just rambling against Finch. I am just cutting through the bullshit and saying it doesn’t matter if it’s Ganim or Finch. Same shit different administration. Same shit different day. But Ganim gets things done and he has the track record. And everything Finch does, Ganim does better.

  3. After Finch’s chief of staff tried to put the kibosh on an event to honor the Reverend Mary McBride-Lee, a revered local civil rights figure who marched in Selma, Alabama with Reverend Martin Luther King to protest for voting rights, Finch’s credibility with the African American community went from tepid to nonexistent. Way to go, Mr. Wood. You managed to anger one-third of the city’s population with just a couple of emails.

  4. Glen Marshall is Atwater, the former President of the Carpenters Local until Dan MALLOY hired him as Labor Commissioner until Glen Marshall resigned as Labor Commissioner. A tight little circle of friends; Bill, Dan and Glenn.

  5. Just a bunch of political termites. They’ll help to get Joe Ganim elected when all is said and done. They’ve already gnawed through the legs of Dan Malloy’s urban support; now they’ll do the same with Bill Finch to help get Joe Ganim elected.

Bridgeporters don’t like parasitic outsiders meddling in their political affairs–especially when it means skewing Bridgeport’s development the wrong way at the expense of Bridgeport taxpayers and Bridgeport jobs.

The Carpenters Union should be renamed the Carpetbaggers Union.
