News release from Mayor Bill Finch:
On Friday (today), Mayor Bill Finch will join principals from Figure Eight Properties and community leaders to celebrate the grand opening of North Park Shopping Plaza.
Located at 1700 Park Avenue, the site that was previously home to the King Cole grocery store, North Park Shopping Plaza has revitalized the site into a vibrant plaza that includes national and regional tenants. Tenants of North Park Shopping Plaza include: Regines, EbLens, Deals, Save A lot, T-Mobile, Peoples United Bank, Mad Rag, McDonald’s and Dr. Dental.
“In Bridgeport, we’re creating jobs and building an environment that allows businesses to grow and thrive,” said Mayor Finch. “This development represents millions of dollars in private investment in Bridgeport, more than 100 new jobs created, and the revitalization of a site located in a highly traffic intersection in the center of the city. Thank you to Richard Korris and the Figure Eight Properties team for their efforts on this project and for working closely with the City to ensure that this development met the needs of the neighborhood.”
This project, which has been developed by Figure Eight Properties, has created 140 jobs in Bridgeport. Of the 140 jobs, 64 are full-time positions. Additionally, the development of North Park Shopping Plaza also resulted in 150 construction jobs.
The ribbon cutting ceremony, which is open to the public, will take place on Friday, June 27 at 1700 Park Avenue starting at 10:15 a.m. Food and refreshments will be provided by food truck Christophe’s Crepes.
Very nice. The plaza has been open for a year already.
The plaza may have been open but not all the stores ’til this week so it really is the grand opening.
Can the Trumbull mall have a grand reopening when it fills a couple of new storefronts? This is just a photo opportunity. There is so much activity happening in Milford, Norwalk and Stamford there is no time to attend all of the plaza openings. The supermarket that opened is overpriced for the area. The McDonald’s is beautiful and People’s Bank could use a facelift. I look forward to the ribbon-cutting at the new park on Virginia Ave. The once-proposed Nob Hill Academy. I know Senator Musto has a press release proposing a new park on Wayne Street. The Nob Hill Park has a sign on it for two years now. Richie Paoletto? Mike Marella? What’s happening? Andy Fardy?
Mattress recycling center redux. If you announce it often enough, you can make up the numbers as you go along.
