Baraka told the board that four potential candidates have already expressed interest: Retired Hamden Schools Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz, who once worked for the district and for the state Department of Education; Sandra Kase, who Vallas brought in as his second in command; Amy Marshall, chief academic officer; and Wayne Alexander, new principal of Bassick High School, who was superintendent of schools for two years in Hernando County, Fla.
