Connecticut Against Gun Violence is organizing a gun control rally Feb. 14 in Hartford. See its latest appeal below:
Connecticut Against Gun Violence has proposed a comprehensive, common sense package of gun violence prevention legislation. Yet, there are many in our state telling the legislators not to change even a single law in the wake of the tragedy in Newtown. Not a single law! If we are going to pass legislation that will ban guns that are designed to kill a lot of people in minutes and pass other common sense anti-gun legislation, we need you to act now. Click here to see CAGV’s comprehensive and commonsense gun violence prevention legislation.
Please tell your legislators it is unacceptable for them not to pass such commonsense proposals. Support the bans on Assault Weapons and Large Capacity Magazines.
CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATORS NOW and tell them to support legislation that will limit the firepower, lethality, and accessibility of weapons in civilian hands.
We need to keep our families and our children safe. There can be no more “Newtowns” and no more families grieving over the loss of loved ones from gun violence.

A political cartoon I saw struck a chord:

Ban all gun shows.
The National Rifle Association may count on 4,000,000 members to voice objection to proposed gun control legislation but their voices will pale in comparison to the chorus of 80,000,000 mothers.
Ban Bass Pro Shops from selling guns in Bridgeport now!

I, truly, hope they succeed. I don’t see anything ‘common sense’ about their agenda or how it will stop anything. It just seems to be designed to make it a pain in the a$$ to own a gun and really expensive. But I hope they succeed because I love it. Think of all the bans of the past and present and how well they are working out. We ban drugs. We banned alcohol, once. Remember how much fun it was when we used to ban abortion? We ban illegal immigration. We ban noisy radios and exhaust pipes. Professional sports has banned steroids.
Look, all laws are basically voluntary. They threaten you with some punishment if you do not follow them but they have to catch you and the odds of that happening are pretty low. For the most part, laws are voluntary. We follow them because we agree with them or because not following them is more trouble than it is worth. I am sure all the criminals are going to line right up and pay their tax and license their guns, first thing The guy shooting up the grocery will be sure to insure his gun because he would not want to get in any trouble. There is no way all the nut jobs living in concrete shelters are going to seal their guns up in PVC and bury them in the yard. This will work. Pass this law and all our troubles will go away.
