From CT Post columnist MariAn Gail Brown:

People for Excellence in Government, the political action committee that got its single largest infusion of cash from Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch’s campaign surplus from the last mayoral election, cut a check last October to a fundraising consultant.

  1. Seems like the Finch administration’s line is “We choose to steal money from a PAC and not from the city. Taxpayers should be happy. They should not consider these illegal acts when choosing their next mayor.”
And to prove it we will have Adam Wood’s PAC sending out a nasty cartoon about our opponent. So there.

  2. How are the campaigns doing with their petitions? John Gomes has been very quiet lately. Can I take that as good news–are the two factions coming together?

  3. The SEEC has been silent on this PAC issue. Not surprising, they are prohibited by law from even confirming a complaint has been received. Not that they’re going to ignore it. They don’t have that option. Too many stories about this have made their way into the morning edition of the Bridgeport Daily Bugle, er, the Connecticut Post. It’s one thing for one candidate’s representatives and proxy agents to criticize the opposition’s choice of running mates. It’s another thing to violate state campaign finance laws (and quite possibly the federal RICO statutes). The Finch camp has a lot more to worry about. I’m wondering if any agents in the Bridgeport office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been keeping score …

  4. As Walt Kelley said, “we have met the enemy and he is us.” If we don’t get out and vote for someone other than Bill Finch, then we are the enemy, and he’ll sit back in his office and laugh at what fools we are.

  5. Hope Bridgeport does not make the mistake of electing Bill Finch. Vote MJF! Seems to me Finch still has strong support outside Black Rock, I saw so many Finch signs around Bpt. When you come to Black Rock it is a different story.

  6. *** Many of the Finch signs you might have seen are on city property, no? However, more Foster signs are needed in many Bpt city lawns instead so they can’t get pulled with an excuse about not being allowed on city property. Paint the town Foster ’til September’s primary! *** PUSH ***
