Joe Tiago Tapped To Lead Public Facilities

He has more than a decade of service in Public Facilities, the municipal superagency that oversees sanitation, parks, street paving, snow clearance, sidewalks, airport, engineering and now Joe Tiago is helming the position in a full-time capacity, replacing Luis Burgos who will lead parks in a part-time role.

Arguably, after public safety, Public Facilities is closest to residents in quality-of-life matters, appearance of the city and responsiveness to constituent requests.

John Hosier is chair of Bridgeport’s Parks Commission and welcomed the Ganim administration’s decision to put Burgos in charge of those recreational sites.

“It’s probably one of the best moves that they’ve ever made,” he said. “From one of my first days on this commission I was like, ‘Why do we not have a parks director? ‘ And Luis has had a commitment to the parks (that’s) unmatchable.”

…Gaudett on Wednesday said of Tiago now being temporarily put in charge, “He’s been with the department for many years, has a strong background in facilities and construction. He’s very familiar with the operation and employees.”

And, Gaudett emphasized, “He has a clean record. As far as we know, he’s been doing his job with integrity since he came back to the city. We have no questions about that.”

    For the most part, I thought this dude was coming up with some practical plans to enhance the city, particularly keeping the streets free of litter, street cleaning, with a more exact time and day instead of that 8-month window or alternate street parking throughout the city. SMH 🙂

I say the Port should have it own Thanksgiving Day parade/celebration and give Stamford a run in Thanksgiving celebration event. JS
