Watch: State Rep. Stafstrom, Lieutenant Governor Stroll Black Rock Streetscape Upgrades

From media partner Doing It Local:

Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz joined the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), state and local officials, and community partners this morning for a “Walk & Talk” site visit celebrating the completion of the Black Rock Streetscape Project.

The $663,000 project, funded by the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the City of Bridgeport, brought major safety and aesthetic upgrades to Fairfield Avenue and Brewster Street. Improvements include ADA-compliant ramps, crosswalks, bike racks, enhanced lighting, and new landscaping, making the neighborhood safer and more welcoming for residents and visitors.

Lt. Gov. Bysiewicz was joined by CTDOT Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto, State Representative Steve Stafstrom, and Bridgeport Senior Economic Development Associate Vincent Mobilio during the walk-through of the upgraded streetscape at 2909 Fairfield Avenue.

  1. Oh, boy! Lennie, remember that time tha State Rep. Auden Grogan paraded Governor Mal Hoy Mañana y Siempre down this same stretch of Black Rock about 10 years ago?

Is this the or an extention of that 10 year old project? I’m sure it is but, with a much higher price tag. Based on the level to which Auden Grogan was kissing up to Mal hoy, I had mentioned/predicted that Rep. Grogin was campaigning for a Judgeship from Mal hoy. Sure enough, Mal hoy and Rep. Auden Grogin were re-elected. Not long after, Mal hoy appoints Rep. Grogins to the bench, Jhon Stafstrom is placed as State Rep., and here we are in 2025 apparently heading down the same Rabbit Hole in Black Rock. It just seems so, “Mal hoy, mañana y siempre”.
Translation: Wrong today, tomorrow, and always

  2. Just watched Frank Recchia’s report on this,so the plan is to make Fairfield Ave one lane in both directions??… This will slow traffic down alright, slow it to a crawl..It will be a nightmare getting down that way now.People will start making the residential side roads crowded with motorists trying to get around the massive traffic jam this will create..People will start avoiding the stretch soon, resulting in less buisness for all those restaurants, shops etc..The plan may look good on paper, but it will turn out to be detrimental to the area..
