What Is The Early Voting Turnout?

Early voting in Connecticut commenced this year and for the first three days in advance of the August 13 primaries, 130 Democrats in Bridgeport cast ballots, according to tabulations from the Registrar’s Office.

Three legislative matches lead the primary turnout: the 22nd Senate District contest between City Councilman Scott Burns, former Mayor Bill Finch, ex councilman Tyler Mack and law school professor Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox; the 23rd Senatorial featuring incumbent Herron Gaston and City Councilman Ernie Newton; and the 124th State House battle between incumbent Andre Baker and City Councilwoman Eneida Martinez.

The 22nd District race comes following Marilyn Moore’s May announcement not to seek reelection. The district covers one third of Bridgeport, all of Trumbull and southern Monroe

The 23rd District encompasses two thirds of Bridgeport and western Stratford.

The Baker-Martinez legislative contest covers the Beardsley, Dunbar, Harding and JFK precincts in the eastern sections of the city.
