If you want to squawk about the city’s $638 million proposed spending plan for the budget year commencing July 1 you have three chances upcoming starting with Thursday 6 p.m. to address the capital plan. All three public hearings will take place in City Council Chambers, 45 Lyon Terrace.
The next one is Monday, April 29, 6 p.m. to discuss the Board of Education.
The final hearing will take place May 2, 6 p.m. covering the general fund budget.
Mayor Joe Ganim’s budget document holds the line on taxes.
The Budget & Appropriations Committee is scheduled to vote on the budget with alterations on May 11. The full council will act May 13. The budget process then goes back to the mayor for possible veto action which is rare prior to setting of the mill rate.
