Watch: The “Gotta Go” Stand Off, Joe Or John?

John Gomes supporters say “Joe’s gotta go.”

Joe Ganim supporters say “John’s gotta go.”

A cup of joe? Or this way to the john?

Please, send directions. Either way we all gotta get there.

City Councilwoman Mary McBride-Lee was joined by other Ganim supporters in a face off with Gomes backers fronting the Margaret Morton Government Center.

Which side stuffed the most ballots? Both sides did it.

Definitely enough stuffing leftover for Thanksgiving.

As a reminder about both sides, Ganim supporters have posted this video on their Facebook pages:

  1. BTW you would think this being an unprecedented case regarding election fraud with video there would be more people chiming in since for years that’s what so many have been complaining. JS

  2. What a sorry political process we are observing this year. “Encounters With Ballot Boxes” makes the national news and becomes part of “election suppression” commentary from the Right?
Normally quiet in public gatherings in recent years, letting her civil rights activity from years ago stand in her stead, but the Council person is only using her “bully pulpit” to accuse a competng Mayoral candidate of actions, instead of the actual incumbent making those statements? Where is her audience?
How many folks has she registered over the years and what are the results in her District in terms of % voting, at the machines to cast their ballots, or by absentee ballots as two methods of expressing voice by voting, a civil right that needs much more support from current City Council persons than it has received this year? Time will tell.

    1. Sorry? it depends on the angle or the way you want to look at it. Sure Port’s “culture” AB practices
made national news this election cycle, yet it’s widely known and has been going on for decades. I am sure those competing Mayoral candidates or another person who is running for Port’s elected office knows and plays the same game.

Bully Pulpit perhaps to accuse competing Mayoral candidate of actions, instead of the actual incumbent making those statements. However, I am disheartened to hear your views on a person of color whose civil rights activity reached back the the days of MlK. Being a White man you have to be careful making such viewpoints and dismiss such civil rights activities for a person of color, without not coming off as a White Supremacy.

      To be fair,
      A. it’s not where’s the audience more than who’s the audience.

      B. You’re denying Port’s AB game/practices isn’t a form of election suppression, are you?

      C. Like commentary from the right you can and should question people of color. who hold elected office. Not everything is what it appears, including Mario’s and Wanda’s, the two Port’s DTC chairs., actions/support/audience,

      #Classic #liberalism. 🤣

I want to agree with Robert Teixeira
John I feel as a person who works with our NAACP you would have look at what Councilwoman Rev Lee and our group was trying to say. She was saying let be fair about the drop-ins of absentee ballots. Her point and our point was no one said anything about a councilwoman going through a Lady’s mail looking for her absentee ballot. JML as a person who represents the NAACP you should have understood what this protest was all about. John Gomes’s people are on tape dropping absentee ballot in drop off boxes saying it was for a family member bull-shit.. JML just remember the NAACP which I served as 3rdVice-President under the leadership of the late Rev Michael P. Williams and former Pastor of the Eastend Baptist Church. Rev Lee and many others will never sit back and allow only one side to be told.

  3. RT,
Hope that you attend tonight’s City Council meeting. You may better understand my position after that. The Selma footage is informative. Folks may change the views they held when young as they experience more of life or from life. You raise my skin color as an issue. What’s the issue, seriously?
Where can you find the words defending illegal behavior in the face of a Court suit and judicial decision regarding AB behavior provided by and seen on social media? What is Mario’s or Wanda’s position on any of this, at any time? Silence. Time will tell.
