Judge Clark Orders New Democratic Primary For Mayor – General Election Will Take Place On Tuesday

Superior Court Judge William Clark has ordered a new Democratic primary for mayor, asserting “the totality of evidence presented is sufficient to demonstrate that a substantial number of ballots were handled improperly in violation of mandatory provisions of Connecticut law.”

So, next Tuesday a general election for mayor will take place, but irrespective of the results, another Democratic primary for mayor between Mayor Joe Ganim and John Gomes must be scheduled, unless vetoed by the Connecticut Supreme Court that will likely weigh in on this decision assuming an appeal by the city.

Judge Clark wrote that the weight of circumstantial evidence as well as direct was enough to persuade him that the sheer amount of absentee ballots shoved into drop boxes was sufficient to place Ganim’s 251-vote win into question.

Next Tuesday a general election will take place. How will Judge Clark’s decision impact the psyche of city voters? Ganim will appear on Democratic line, David Herz the Republican, Gomes the Bridgeport Independent Party and Lamond Daniels as a petitioning candidate.

Gomes is playing with house money. Even if he loses the general election, he enjoys another bite assuming The Supremes uphold this lower court ruling.

When will another Democratic primary take place?

This is new territory, likely in December.

This is so weird. If Ganim wins the general and then the redo primary it’s over.

If Gomes wins Tuesday’s general election, it’s over. No reason for a redo.

But, what if Ganim wins the general, then loses the redo primary, there’s still another general election because he occupies a ballot spot on the New Movement Party line.

But what if Lamond Daniels wins the general election? Then, what?

Am I talking out loud? YES! Understand this schizophrenia!

So many unknowns.

Obviously the result reported today has a limited and a specific result after looking at the way Bridgeport votes….by the numbers of absentee ballots dropped in the four specific ballot boxes and the relatively few persons, doing the dropping, providing evidence that absentee ballot procedures were abused significantly. Will trust be restored without a further pursuit of the folks who are employed or seeking office going without a review of the questions to which they answered by asserting their own 5th Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination. What is interesting about civil courts is that the exercise of such a right can allow a judge to make an inference based on the “Take the Fifth” response. Similar thing happening in the Trump civil and criminal trials and tribulations. Taking the Fifth avoids potential jail time from providing those answers personally but the potential inference may also provide a judge with evidence of import in making his decision.
    Tuesday, ELECTION DAY, is for voting. Pursuit of court activity or results of investigations will likely come later. Are you registered? Have enough info about all the candidates? Will you encourage a big turnout in the City by your behavior? Do you realize that self-governance, basic to proudly calling ourselves a democracy is the responsibility of all Americans? Use your vote! Express your voice! Time will tell.

  4. Well, the perception of trust perhaps may give an illusion trust was restored, regardless of what comes out on the criminal prosecution side. Did you see the stacks of AB Wanda was stuffing into the ballot box, right out of City Hall?

    While there was significant evidence of AB abuse, and I stand on my assumption Wanda’s actions were on behalf of team Gomeas, not G2,, Those who were called as a witness and took the fifth are not the only hands contributing to the distrust in Port’s election, particularly its AB game Right, holier-than-thou, 20000 AB of shade. 🤣

    I wouldn’t say taking the fifth avoids potential jail time in a civil case but it does buy some time to get a more plausible explanation. Perhaps a deal, without potential collation damage when the time comes and it counts regarding jail time.

    G2 can provide trust/legitimacy to his mayorship if you best Gomes in a second primary, being he wins the General.

  5. First: Where is the FBI, et al., in the investigation of all of the alleged (and confirmed/video-recorded) shenanigans that occurred during the campaign? With the Bridgeport Housing Authority (its new name does nothing to make the picture of Bridgeport public housing any prettier) suing the Gomes Campaign for voter-resident abuse/campaign irregularities on its federally funded property, shouldn’t the FBI conduct an investigation to ascertain whether there is truth to those allegations or if it is an illegal, bogus lawsuit initiated by the BHA hierarchy in order to further the Ganim re-election efforts? If the latter were found to be the case, then BHA-officials and their partners in such an illegal effort would be guilty of crimes related to official corruption as well as suing on false pretenses…

    So: Where is the thorough investigation by all concerned agencies regarding the breaking of state and federal laws in the rigged D-primary election of 9/12/23 and the aftermath?! Are the state and federal governments shirking their duty with respect to investigating a situation in Bridgeport that could be used to help justify another violent, deadly insurrection after the 2024 election?!

    But, in any event, no matter how the coin toss ends on November 7, Joe Ganim loses. If he wins, he faces a new primary and new election, even as the dirt from the election-rigging of the primary continues to exact its political toll on his campaign and new piles are exposed…

    The Gomes Campaign, still dragging its own significant baggage, and never having been able to kindle any sort of real fire under the seats of even the Bridgeport Democratic electorate, is limping toward whatever type of finish it might have been hoping for in 2023 Mayoral race…

    So; with less than a week to go until Election Day, much of the Bridgeport electorate finds itself in a losing situation regarding the two candidates supported by the old, worn-out, tainted/tarnished factions of the Democratic Party that have, once again foisted dismay and confusion on the Bridgeport electorate through their campaign antics…

    The people of the City of Bridgeport deserve better than what the machine Democratic Party factions and their candidates have offered us. We deserve a fresh, untainted, untarnished face in Bridgeport City Hall. That really leaves us with only one viable choice on Election Day — LAMOND DANIELS, the independent, petitioning, superbly-qualified candidate for Mayor of Bridgeport…

  6. Jeff, regardless of the tainted Port corrupted election at least this decision didn’t continue the dismay beyond Ports AB Players. 🙂

    What are the odds, that Gomes supporters and other candidates will be in the news on charges stemming from this election and the requested investigation of election fraud in 2019, besides those that took the fifth at the case for a new primary?

    Jeff, You are on point about the investigation. There is very little doubt Wanda and Martinez are the only ones caught on tape at the AB ballot boxes committing voter fraud. We saw a couple of appearances from Gomes shirt-wearing supporters stuffing the ballot box. It is going to be very interesting who they shake out of Port’s shady AB game. Though Holier-than-thou, 20000 shades of the ballot, under the bus throwing Moore, Gen Now is safe from prosecution, They sent flier with rules and laws. Well Played. 🤣
