Languishing properties part of Bridgeport’s history……some owned by City covered in CT POST article today….to hire a property manager to perform administrative duties. Part of restructuring or just good management? 800 properties? Fair market value? Plans for sale? For development?
Speaking of CT Post front page noting that State of CT is calling for lifeguards. Imagine if Connectuicut’s largest City had an actual working plan for youth to become water skilled? Not eliminating pools while rebuilding youth facilities, but classes managed by City, available to all youth with target of swimming and water safety for all, including creating lifeguards recruited by Bridgeport and other communities where these water skilled youth can serve the public in the future. Something that can be considered with a kickoff with Federal funds??
Vision needs to include safety and utility where past development requires change but vision that includes the activity of all the people using the land and water that the Creator has provided to us for safekeeping and enoyment. Time will tell..
Ganim did not need a demolition photo op. We’ve already witnessed his destructive policies and budget for 7 plus years now. The destruction caused by His education funding shortfall will be painfully evident no later than the beginning of the 2025/2026 school year. Right in the middle of his successor’s term.
Please, Pencil Box, Like Gomes claim every election cycle the Pols pull out their favorite play from their political playbook, be it bridges, or educational funding, But the actual level of education/competency rate the Port BBOE has been producing for decades with regards to education, Pools and swimming lessons (the grass is always green), recreational activities like pools should be at the back of that playbook.
Besides, the liability of pools, swimming lessons are very personal, one on one hands-on. Now a more practical approach to pools is to build a large recreational pool at Seaside Park, Of course without a diving board and at its deepest 5 1/2 or 6 feet deep where the kids and young adults can play and cool off in the summer. enjoy the quality of live on those green fields (communities)O enjoy.
It seems better that a large dump with solar panels. SMH 🙂

Imagine funding education at the level of other cities and being able to support schools with pools and swim classes.
