Bridgeporter Lorraine Warren, Paranormal Investigator, Dies

They were raised in Bridgeport and engaged globe-trotting lives studying and researching the paranormal. Ed and Lorraine Warren had their supporters and detractors, but they connected with people in ways far beyond normal citizens in their paranormal world. Lorraine had this ethereal quality that was both inviting and disquieting by the nature of her profession and persona. She passed away at age 92 as announced by the family-run New England Society for Psychic Research.

Ed died in 2006.

It is with deep sadness that I must announce that Lorraine Warren has passed away. She died peacefully in her sleep at home last night. The family requests that you respect their privacy at this time.

Lorraine touched many lives and was loved by so many. She was a remarkable, loving, compassionate and giving soul.

To quote Will Rogers, she never met a person she didn’t like.

She was an avid animal lover and contributed to many animal charities and rescues.

She was wonderful and giving to her entire family.

May God Bless her.

The Amityville Horror had been their signature case. Then a supernatural film brought their careers to a whole new level. The Conjuring depicted the work of Ed and Lorraine Warren. The film follows the paranormal investigators who come to the assistance of the Perron family experiencing disturbing events in their farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island in 1971.

Bridgeport experienced supernatural fame in 1974 with “The House of Happenings” a four-room house on Lindley Street in the North End that gained national attention when the owners claimed to have heard strange noises, curtains ripped down, a television crashing to the floor, a refrigerator lifted off the ground. Police, firefighters and Ed and Loraine Warren said they witnessed strange occurrences. Thousands of curious onlookers lined Lindley Street causing massive traffic congestion. Police closed the street to traffic.

Superintendent of Police Joe Walsh would have none of it. “There are no ghosts in Bridgeport.”

It would have been more impressive if they announced it 10 years ago.
