You Can’t Be Serious, Election Protest Misses Mark

I don’t know this Sean Murphy, of Woodbury, a registered Republican who heads the citizen group Connecticut Resistance that gawked the Election Day mess Sunday on McLevy Green in front of the building that houses the city’s Registrar of Voters Office, but to call for Mayor Bill Finch’s resignation is pure demagoguery.

The city’s two elected Registrars, Democrat Sandi Ayala and Republican Joe Borges, neither of whom report to the mayor, made the decision to print 21,000 ballots when far more were required. Good job by David Smith of www.doingitlocal.com for hammering home the obvious.

  1. “We’ve lost almost 8 million jobs, before we even put our economic plan in place.” Obama, 10/30/2010, Bridgeport Connecticut.

Obama missed the mark by 1 million jobs and Lennie Grimaldi–like Himes and the rest–lets him get away with it. I attended the protest. I agree with you Lennie in the sense that Finch is not at fault for the insufficient order of ballots by the ROV. I wonder why Finch is so angry to the point of asking for resignation that 70,000 ballots were not ordered. I’m glad in the sense that had enough ballots had been ordered, there would have been sufficient ballots for people to vote more than once. There are reports of people doing this–some people got two ballots in their vanilla folders and turned them in. Lennie, do you have the AB numbers (preferably broken down by districts)? I feel that city leaders are angry because this puts the spotlight at a time when Bridgeport Democrats had to deliver strong numbers by all means necessary. Now is the time to look at the means that were necessary.

  2. This situation is an embarrassment to the city of Bridgeport. It adds to a series of embarrassments. City officials need to take some responsibility. The tone and culture is set at the top. Not being able to provide the citizens of the city with basic rights such as the right to vote is a disgrace. They always pass the buck. I think we need a change.

  3. *** Good job by David Smith; seems without being too specific on what the Mayor did or did not do concerning the election, it’s let’s play CEO of a corporation time for Mr. Murphy. I don’t agree with many of this current admin’s policies & decisions, however there are far more people to blame concerning the overall past election, no? Also is Mr. Murphy actually from Bpt that he’s so concerned with what took place? It’s water under the bridge ’til the study is done & changes are made, no? Besides, Bpt needs another teacup & cookies party like a hole in the head! *** Now ain’t that a kick in the head. ***

  4. As one of the few registered Republicans in my town, I would really like to see an investigation into this. I was watching returns on TV and Debicella was ahead of Himes, and Foley was ahead of Malloy. Before all the votes were counted, Debicella was making a concession speech. Something is not adding up, and I would like to see an independent investigation. Also, it’s just a tad bit fishy that every single Dem that ran won in CT, and in the rest of the country, it was the opposite.

    1. Bridgeport disenfranchised the Republican vote. Plain and simple. I wonder how many Republicans left the polling places in frustration not to return. I INSIST that Foley obtain a judgment declaring the gubernatorial vote null and void and ordering a full state revote.

  5. *** You would think so but there’s more to Mr. Murphy than meets the eye & the squirrels following him! I’m sure we’ll hear from Murph the surf & the teacup surfers again, no? *** Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift. ***
