Will They Discover The Money?

Mayor Bill Finch and Superintendent of Schools John Ramos, in a joint media event today, announced the temporary site for the regional Discovery Magnet School.

When will the new facility open? The media advisory below states January 2011. But if the Board of Education doesn’t achieve millions in union concessions from teachers and administrators, the opening could be delayed.

  1. Are you suggesting that someone was dealt an inside straight?
Or somebody was on the inside of a straight deal?
Or somebody was in on an inside deal?
    What is it ripper?

  2. We are taking on this additional cost to open up a school for 84 3- and 4-year-old children? In Fairfield? Of which 59 will come from Bridgeport but no transportation? Am I misreading this?
My read says it is a daycare center for kids from the ‘burbs the Bridgeport taxpayers are going to be responsible for.

  3. Grin of course they could have found space in Bridgeport. The little darlings from the ‘burbs will go to the Discovery Museum area but do you think they would go to one of the schools located inside the city? I bet there is a rabbi who is connected to the administration involved in this deal. It never stops.

  4. *** With this economy & the way this admin. moves, along with the overall ways things are done in Bpt. “I’ll believe it when I see it!” Besides, BOE rumors have Ramos researching a possible future job buy-out if the pot of gold is right & future plans & opportunities present themselves @ the end of the rainbow? *** Question, what’s more important, or in the city’s best interests? Build this Discovery School in a year then transfer Harding students there on a temp. basis to get started immediately on demolition & a new Harding High on site? Or just going ahead with the original plans for the Discovery School and hoping for a 30% enrollment from towns outside of Bpt. etc. to help share the cost of the new school in general, which Bpt kicks in anywhere from 5 to 20% of the building’s cost. However, that percentage does not factor in the overall “$” for maint., staffing, transportation, security, utilities, food, insurance, taxes, etc.? *** Time will Tell *** Does the so-called Bpt Census tee-shirt give-away party really think this P/R gimmick is going to work? Inquiring Minds will be watching for the masses of citizens & illegal aliens lining up! *** “¿Dónde están las Coronas?” ***
