When An Idiot Acts, Let’s Oblige The Whine–GOP Chief Romano Bans Hearst Reporter From Party Convention

Wah. Wah. Wah. Republican State Chairman J.R. Romano, who makes Pinocchio look like a truth teller, is whining about the treatment he’s received from Hearst Connecticut Media reporter Neil Vigdor. JR, how about some cheese to go with that whine?

From Hearst reporter Ken Dixon:

The chairman of the Republican State Central Committee on Friday banned Hearst Connecticut Media’s chief political reporter from covering the party’s Monday convention.

J.R. Romano of Derby denied reporter Neil Vigdor’s access to the event in the Connecticut Convention Center for what he characterized as a series of negative stories about state Republicans that used anonymous sources.

“I’m tired of him having unnamed sources,” Romano said in a Friday interview. “I question his motivations. Neil Vigdor is not treating us fairly. I just want to be treated fairly. I’m not being treated fairly.”

By 5 p.m., about two hours after Hearst Connecticut Media posted that Vigdor’s access would be denied, Romano issued a fund-raising news release calling the reporter “a so-called journalist,” an “anti-Republican blogger,” and that “I’ve had enough with unfair, biased media coverage of our party and candidates.”

  1. I had a good time baiting Romano after his Republican candidate for First Selectman lost in Fairfield. Romano and the Republicans thought the “WHO LOST GE” argument would turn people into Republicans. Romano thought the “WHO LOST GE” argument would resonate throughout the state and would have political “legs.” He was wrong. I need to find a way to get a hold of Romano and find out what is his strategy for this November with Trump at the top of the Republican ticket.

    1. You must be related to Romano or come from the same school of motive. Many of your comments can be interpreted as being anti Charles Paris, A.J. Perez, Joe Ganim etc. Your comments sound like your intentions are to turn people against the police; would resonate throughout the City of Bridgeport and start off on a political wheelchair. You’ve been wrong many times. Fortunately, you don’t have to go far to get a hold of me, Charles Paris, A.J. Perez and Joe Ganim.

      1. Joel Gonzalez, what are you talking about? Many of YOUR comments can be interpreted as being PRO Charles Paris, AJ Perez, Joe Ganim. Your comments sound like intentions for people to turn a blind eye away from the issues at hand and give the above a blank check. And I am completely baffled with your comment about being related to Romano or come from the same school or motive. Can anyone else here who knows Joel Gonzalez elucidate me as to what this statement means?

  2. *** The Republican Party nationwide is in dire straits with the Trump GOP win and past election losses across America, also with what seems like possible continued GOP failure in the upcoming future! Who’s going to support Trump, who will step forward as an independent candidate if it’s not too late, who will be the Trump choice for V/P, or will some Republicans just not vote or end up voting for Hillary? Lots of party shifting, decisions to make and overall political strategy for the 2016 elections. ***

  3. Wow! That little Nazi must have been channeling H.R. Haldeman! (The first order of business at the state GOP convention should be the election of a new Party Chair. How about Nick Panuzio?)

    1. No, how about David Walker, he has all the answers and he could lead them out of the wilderness, that way he would be one of the 50 state Republican party chairmen thereby giving him a place at the table inside the Republican Party. No, on second thought one out of 50 is not good enough.

      1. *** I like D. Walker and like E.F. Hutton, when he speaks people stop and listen. Seems like you haven’t been listening or hearing exactly what “you” want to hear! And as for you F.G, I would not take anything you read on these blogs by certain bloggers too seriously unless you believe in personal political fairy tales, no? *** WHOOP ***

  4. If Romano continues to alienate people, will the headlines end up reading: “Who shot J.R.?”

With apologies to Dallas fans, and I don’t mean the Cowboys.

    1. MM, that’s a good one. In a way, Romano isn’t all that wrong. I’m not going to single out Neil Vigdor. JR. I’m a big fan of Ken Dixon and he is and has always been fair to Republicans and Democrats. Party leaders on both sides, time and time again, have been unfair towards other members of their party.

      1. I attended the Democratic State Convention (as a delegate) in Hartford this morning and Neil Vigdor was more than welcome, in fact he was welcomed by the state party chairman from the podium.

J.R. is following the Trump play book in excluding journalists who don’t kowtow to the Republican candidates.

Will the CT Republicans be picking out Black shirts or brown shirts as they attempt to curtail the freedom of the press? They love their warped view of the Second amendment while they trample on the First.

In Trump’s America, no freedom of the press, no freedom of religion for Muslims and the list goes on.
