Hey Lennie , Saugatuck Sweets and Gofer Ice Cream?
What happen to Timothy’s Ice Cream and promise of using local people? ……Shilly!
Lenny, what is the reason for terming Howard Saffan a “developer”, when he owns little or no business property within Bridgeport that I have heard is taxable, and has used Bridgeport taxpayers as long term bankers for the rebuilding and long term re-presentation of valuable downtown “business property”?
I have no problems with the food venues chosen as I am a taxpaying business person and have sought or been landlord to one or more of these local food businesses personally in recent years. Running a retail food business takes good skills, experience, and a sense for the taste of the public and its ability to discover value. But if he were a food maven, why has he not sought to relocaate them in a Bridgeport location that has 24/7 or close to availability to ticket holders when they are not “concerting”? Does he have a limit on profits that he seeks, or only on risks that he takes?
Perhaps one or more City folks might endeavor to sketch out Mr. Saffan’s investment in the property alongside that of the public in terms of land, building and current development and reckon how dollars flow to both non-property taxable developer Saffan and the City based on those who made one or more deals with Bridgeport in recent years. No longer do we have a National Anthem and “play ball” sound around the shell of seats. But there is a question as to how the deal looks today on this precious ground when COVID has decimated too many businesses locally and left taxable vacant locations. Time will tell.
JML, looks like Lennie the shill is choking on a reply.
