  1. Here are a number of reasons on why not to be a member of the Bridgeport Police, it is one the worse paying and poor health benefits police department in state and the BPD respones to poor calls than any police departments in th state. The former BPD police chief is now a convicted felon who is disrespected, how in he world can have any respect for the BPD.

    “Bridgeport, Ct. Police Beat Taze”
    From Dan Tepfer, CT Post:

A $10 million federal lawsuit claims Bridgeport police officials closed their eyes to a rampage by three rogue officers allowing them to leave a nearly two-year trail of abuse and brutality.

Just look at how all of these police officers kicked the man in the head. Geroge Floyd and so many other blacks around the country are being treated the same wayby the police. Let’s not forget 15 year old Jayon Negron who was shot and killed by a Bridgeport officer.

The Bridgeport Police Department is in so much turmoil, there are lawsuits on who should be the police chief.

    Brian Lockhart April 24, 2021

BRIDGEPORT — More municipal employees — especially police officers — are having job issues, lodging complaints and facing discipline, according to the labor relations department.

“If you were to ask me which are the highest or more active unions right now, it’s the police department and it’s NAGE (National Association of Government Employees),” Eric Amado, labor relations director for Mayor Joe Ganim, advised the council’s budget committee recently. “NAGE is a big union. Police is a big union.

“And there’s a lot of activity — as you guys are aware of — in the police department,” he added. “We’re at a point right now we’re trying to hold individuals accountable for actions if they’re in violation of work rules. The union challenges whatever it is … and we then have to defend that.”

“And there’s a lot of activity — as you guys are aware of — in the police department,” he added. “We’re at a point right now we’re trying to hold individuals accountable for actions if they’re in violation of work rules. The union challenges whatever it is … and we then have to defend that.”

“They (cases) get quite expensive,” Amado added, though he did not provide a monetary figure.

The police force over the past few years has been buffeted by controversy and scandal, from the shooting death of 15-year-old Jayson Negron in 2017 to the arrest last September of then-Chief Armando Perez for cheating to get that job. And in between there have been several incidents of excessive force or officers otherwise behaving badly, resulting in protests, Ganim’s hiring of a consultant and the creation of a task force to recommend reforms.

Acting Police Chief Rebeca Garcia, who was promoted to that position from assistant top cop following Perez’s arrest and resignation, has repeatedly assured council members she is working to improve discipline and reign in any abuses.

Garcia did not return a request for comment and the police union declined to weigh in.
