Watch: Demo Of Former Health Department Building To Make Way For New Development

Mayor Joe Ganim on Wednesday was joined by community stakeholders to complete the demolition of the former health department building on East Main Street for a future development.

City Council members who represent the East Side district Aidee Nieves and Maria Valle, as noted in the video, are pushing this site for a new police headquarters, the current one on Congress Street Downtown mired in antiquity.

The city will likely issue a request for proposals from private developers, to see what comes, before going that route.

See video emceed by development official Bill Coleman.

  1. A good day !! Tear that baby down. So recently i was driving down Knowlton ,and when i got to the park there, i wanted to just throw up. I don’t remember the company that was there years ago, but that building on Housatonic ave, has to be the worst of the worst in Bridgeport. Who the hell wants to go to that park and look at that piece of shit of a building. Tremendous scenery. Does anyone have any information on that damn thing????
