  1. Not completely off topic, but please mark your calendar for tomorrow’s meeting at city hall, Ordinance committee meeting that is a continuation of addressing the regulations and restriction for zoning of ADULT ENTERTAINMENT FACILITIES in our city … we must change the existing requirements and put these establishment far away from schools, churches and parks. Put them in the industrial zones, which was what I did with the Zoning regulations when I was there … But the rules WERE changed … that is total BS.
BE THERE TOMORROW 6P CITY HALL, LYON TERRACE. THANKS.

  2. Pat, is your proposal similar to what Dinkins started and Rudy finished in NYC:

It started with a neighborhood in Queens near the Queensboro Bridge that had suffered when topless bars and porn shops moved in. After the study, the City Council drew up stricter zoning laws that prohibited sex-oriented theaters, bookstores, massage parlors and dance clubs from operating within 500 feet of homes, houses of worship, schools or one another.

  3. DEFINITELY, do you recall NYC Times Square and 34th St.? They were full of these sex-oriented bookstores, etc. … it was a disgrace and you were embarrassed and leary of walking near them.
They have since cleaned it all up and it’s a pleasure now to walk and visit those areas.
We need that here; enough is enough … tighten up the laws and regulations … that can be done.

  4. Besides, thinking of all the storefront churches we have in all of our neighborhoods … that should be a good 500 ft rule … they are everywhere. Tax exempt and I never see them opened or operating as such.
They should be reinspected and see if the “church” still is operating as such or just an excuse to avoid taxes!!!
