Statement from Congressman Jim Himes:
“I am sick to my stomach at what appears to be another cold-blooded murder of an American citizen at the hands of ICE agents, and the immediate lies being spun in response by this administration. We are watching the relentless escalation of violence by a lawless authoritarian regime. It’s clear that the killing of Renee Good has furthered empowered the swaths of violent, masked DHS officers terrorizing our cities. This week, the Senate will vote on funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which includes funding for ICE. History will be unforgiving to those who capitulate to this immoral criminal administration. Every Senator must vote NO.”
Statement from state legislature’s Black & Puerto Rican Caucus:
Today, we witnessed the killing of a U.S. citizen at the hands of a federal agent. The death of Alex Pretti — a nurse who dedicated his life to caring for others — is a tragedy that demands more than excuses or deflection.
This moment cannot be reduced to familiar arguments about training gaps or delayed transparency. What occurred reflects a deeper failure: a lack of empathy and an absence of real accountability. Generations before us fought for the right to organize, to protest peacefully, and to speak out in defense of others. Those rights must not come with a death sentence.
When federal agents are allowed to kill citizens who are exercising their voices in protest of violence and brutality, we move dangerously close to autocracy. It sends a chilling message that the government may arbitrarily decide who lives and who dies. That is not order — it is chaos, and it is unacceptable.
We must be able to support one another, engage honestly, and dissent without fear of losing our lives for challenging those in power.
Our thoughts are with the family of Alex Pretti, a nurse at the Minneapolis VA who served those who bravely served our country. We also stand with the family of Renee Good and all individuals who have experienced violence and brutality at the hands of ICE agents. There must be full accountability for these acts of violence. Anything less is a failure of justice.

Trump is a dangerous, deranged, idiot despot who has surrounded himself with a cabinet of criminally-inclined incompetents tasked with executing his will — very much like the Hitler… DHS enforcers are the equivalent of the Nazi SS (beyond the Gestapo) — vicious thugs, chosen for their ability to enact brutality against civilians. Trump’s aim is to provoke civil war so that the military can be deployed throughout the country to implement the MAGA “final solution” — an oligarchy with a fully fascist agenda and social caste system per a restructured US society and political system. None of what is happening now with our baby Hitler is in any way to be taken lightly; we are under the auspices of an oligarchic, fascist regime that is executing a plan to realize its goals. Capitulation by the citizenry of the US and its present political system and institutions is not an option.
Both sides have their share of crazies, ratcheting up explosive rhetoric and supporting confrontation which is far different than protesting.
Himes is usually pretty even-handed and I was dismayed that he jumped on the murder bandwagon. Certain that ICE agents don’t wake up and go to work hoping to shoot somebody.
The truth will come out and if the death was unwarranted, the ICE officer will be sent to jail.
“We must be able to support one another, engage honestly, and dissent without fear of losing our lives for challenging those in power.”
Please, not much honesty about this statement as an effort to rally the troops/support. The only honest part was “challenging those in power.”
I do get amused when American politics attaches the Latinos/brown to a black perspective issue in their statement/cause/agenda. As well as equally amused when blacks are attached to a primary Latino perspective, knowing full well Black economic and political power standing is diminished with mass “undocumented” Latinos moving into what has been a traditionally black community. JS
I’m betting that the game is to rally the blacks, perhaps the legal Latino base as well, turning this into a Goegor Floyd/ BLM outcry.
This shit doesn’t make sense. I mean, outside of “Challenging those in power.” Is man’s death is nothing more than a challenge to those in power?
I mean, clearly, immigration/ deportation was not an issue to such a degree when Obama (Ds) were doing it when they were in power. So this “Challenge’ is very politically, subjectivley and selectively in nature, as it pertains to illegal immigrants. No?
This generated chaos, I mean, “challenge” is a failed political tactic if they don’t get the masses, AKA blacks and “minorities/browns”, people to join in as they did and recreate a George Floyd, BML movement/moment in their respective communities. IMO
They shutdowns any real long-term CHOP/CHAZ zone occurred pretty quickly after Renee’s death. Unlike George Floyd, that fueled the emotional outrage that worked to put a D, Biden, in office.
However, unlike Floyd, ICE’s immigration stance has no real purpose in making America better. It is strictly political in nature.
Floyd’s fiery but mostly peaceful protest held some purpose outside of political parties’ “challenges.” Body Cameras come to mind.
This shit doesn’t make no sence, to call on to defund ICE. As retarded and stupid as defunding the Police was, there was a purpose to it. To call on to Defund ICE? What does that mean? Open borders? Let every human being into this country, without question?
How does open borders, unchecked illegal immigration serve this nation? It doesn’t, but that’s what’s being sold. Well, on the surface, the face value of the words being spoken in this statement could vary with coded words. No? But I’ll bet in this coded, disingenuous game that statement means whatever it wants on whatever level it perceives.
This recent martyr gave his life to political rhetoric and disingenuous American politics. IMO.
I’m just saying, it’s not like these agents/law enforcement officers are not doing their job based on the Laws you in Congress enacted in that democracy. So no need to obstruct and or resist.
MLK held a different approach, right? So to resist as a mantra is disingenuous, I would think. Especially when it pertains to obstruction of law enforcement who are carrying out lawful duties that Congress, Democracy as enacted, JS
So, to obstruct them on such a scale, to create chaos and deadly situations just to increase a political position, as you “challenge” the opposition side, seems disingenuous, to say the least. No?
This seems like political anarchy, IOM, as an effort to take over control of the political system from the (Rs) by manufacturing anarchy where the people call upon them, the Ds, to fix the problem.
The issue with this democratic strategy is that people are losing their lives in the process. Though perhaps a sense of wanting/needing it too.
However, the needed desire affect is to draw blacks/minorities into it. As long as white people are being harmed/killed, for the most part, and since blacks are not subject to deportation, for the most part, the desire for the George Floyd mindset among blacks will not be achieved, where Chaos reigns, the protests turn fiery, and businesses in respective communities are burnt out and or looted.
I mean, unlike policing, immigration, black Americans have no stake in it. In fact would rally around a decrease in their political position as the Latino base grows.
Even the black American slavery mindset shifts psychologically and politically. I would think. I mean, if blacks find themselves protesting and emotional upset about “America’s” deportation, Black Africans Solomonians have to take a shift on racist America and its evilness. No?
Considering the emotion, Clarion calls on the mindset of Black Americans today, regarding their ancestors being brought to “America” as slavey labor or even the Democrat Party’s Jim Crow laws of the South. I mean, it would mean blacks Americans rallying against that same Evil America they find themselves part of, which has now found that “Evil America” wants to deport Black Africans back to Africa, who want to come here.
How does that work out mind of Black Americans under CRT teaching? America is so racist and Evil that it now wants to deport/stop Black Africans from coming to this Evil Country of their own volition and illegally.
I said this once, and I say this again. I don’t know if this engineer chaos is a retarted miscaluation or diabolical. From a political black perspective.
Shit, don’t make any sense, people. just like that, Thermal Deuce that was dropped on the South End by the white’s Hartford, and telling the Port, mostly minorities its a win for the Port.
The truth on the DHS murder is being suppressed. Even the FBI has been excluded from lifting the veil on the truth in these DHS homicides. Th crazies are only on one side — Trump-MAGA…
